She's trying to lighten it up for you at the end, since she knows ppl feel this song all along with her, & almost too deeply. She doesn't want u to be too sad, or, like me, otherwise emotionally exhausted after a perfectly beautiful & poignant song like this. Whew...Adele...you had me on SNL..

It's a visual & auditory story. The song is written to her son explaining why she blew up their lives by moving out of the marital home & getting a divorce to find "her" happiness. So she's packed up & walking through the now empty (sold) house. She waves goodbye as "the marriage" drives off into the distance. Not married young (actually married in 2018 at almost 30) but had been with him since 2011 & to her, the actual wedding was just a party - she considered they'd been married for years & realized quickly after the wedding - it wasn't working & hadn't been fgor quite a long time....left & filed for divorce in 2019.

She says in the song she's been looking for gold (love) forever, with no luck, but she still has hope. In real life, a few years ago now, maybe 10, she found out she was pregnant, when she wasn't anywhere near ready for it, or expecting it, (& there's not a lot of time to decide what you're going to do about it!!) ("No time to choose what I chose to do"). So she chose to keep the baby, & marry the father too, & did her best to jump into marriage & motherhood & do a good job of it all -- and gave up her music to do it, basically. (Hard to do a grueling tour with a newborn, nevermind find time & energy to write songs too, much less create a whole new next album.) Which situation actually slowly killed her, really, killed her spirit, even tho her son was worth everything -- but she just couldn't do it any more, nor could she & the father work anything out & still live together. She finally says, "...& I give up!!" And for her husband not to give her a hard time, bec she really, really tried - thought she could pull it off if she tried hard enough, took it seriously enough. And you know the song, or the video here, has hidden clues throughout, right?? The crows cawing at the beginning, signifying death...death of her relationship. I understand this house was first seen in her Rolling in the Deep video. I have to go look at that one; I haven't seen it yet. But this is the same house in the Hello video from her 25 album. In that one she came came back to the house, with the furniture all covered up with dusty sheets, & you see visually all the stages of her relationship that went on there, in the video, until the fellow walked away, angry; it's all her memories of the relationship. Apparently she was just temporarily back at the house then (I think I recall her just driving away from it in that video), since it's turned up as being still in the picture in this newest video. Now the house is basically all cleared out -- & she looks back once over her shoulder, feeling all those memories she leaves behind, as she walks out the door, forever. As she leaves you see the SOLD sign on the house -- more death of the relationship; it is DONE. (And I think it's a woman friend she's talking to on the phone (but I could be wrong! She doesn't act like she's in a new relationship yet in this video tho!!), where she's saying she's all packed up, about ready to get on the road, etc. The cassette tape is to let you know it's a few years ago now, not a recent relationship that's died, in the video -- & in her life, too, to a point, altho when she & her husband split up in real life we were well past cassette tapes!! And you see in this video how it's sad for her, bittersweet, to see the happy relationships around her on the road, but she's wishing them well. I haven't quite figured out yet about the music pages flying out onto the road tho. Unless she wrote that music in the house (love songs??), and now they're blowing away in the wind, just the way the relationship has gone (& how she lost the music for awhile -- changed who she was to put them both first, & put herself last, in real life)??? Not sure. Yes, all the red!!...it's warmth, rebirth, energy, & an awakening to a whole new life!!! After all the pain. And you will note the deliberate zoom-in close-up of her left hand there, while she's sitting in the chair -- no more wedding ring!! -- & she moves her hand too, to make sure u notice it!! (No more ring in her relationship in the video & no more ring in real life either!!). I think all the paint dropcloths on the floor signify the place being redecorated, that she's moving into a new home & life, with only one chair there so far, in the middle of the room -- the girl's moved ON. I love the way she sings the last line at the window, back in the B&W film noir look again ...but it does turn back to red pretty quickly, so it's all right. And that old sheet music is still just slowly all blowing away, just looae nothing pages that no one cares about any more. Then Adele tries to lighten the mood for us at the end, at the "Cut!!" (I think she also says to turn off the bloody fans!!) She approves all her videos 100% ofc, & I think she wants us to know she's not still totally gutted by all of it any more, that things are good & getting even better now, & she wants us to lighten us up too, so we feel good as well, after she's taken us thru this deep, painful journey with her. She doesn't want us to be sad!! -- and EVERYthing in this video is deliberate. I'm not even sure I've caught all the nuances of it yet!! I'd love to sit down & talk to her & just ask her, "Did I get it all??" "Did I get it all???"

I feel like Adele wanted to show the fun side of the making of the video to show she is in a good place now and she is happy. She is singing about something she went through but has moved on. In regards to other great singers, Amy Winehouse was amazing if you haven't reacted to her.

It is a video FULL of images that have meaning. She is looking for the last time out the window due to the memories, (this is the exact same house they filmed "HELLO" in earlier in her career). She is driving with a vehicle full of her last items that she has moved out. She sold the house, and is moving on after her divorce. This song (and most of her album 30) is letters of a sort for her son when he gets older to explain her divorce, and other choices she made as he was growing up. This song is asking her son to go easy on her, and understand she was very young herself, and the choices she made she felt she didn't have the time/and experience to make. I think the lady in this reaction is a bit too judgmental, and isn't looking at this from Adele's perspective, but her own...which means she doesn't really get it. The guy in this video gets it. The "we get it, you are leaving the house" was just a cringe comment. It is steeped in meaning, it is alluding to her divorce, and moving on...she is asking her son to "take it easy on me". Rather than tear her down or blame her for making his life a mess because the divorce, and choices she made that affected his life so much as well. The ending with her laughing, and the director teasing her was allowed into the video to show she actually is passed the sadness, and trauma of the divorce now, and is moving on. and is able to laugh, and be at ease with herself and others a bit more.

That Martin person below needs to relax it’s not that serious 😂😂 but as for the vids. Reasons for the clip in the beginning is the same house she grew up at and the same house in the music vids “hello” seeing her leaving meaning she’s moving to California after mental abuse from her ex husband as result of their divorce. Is why those song note ppl flew out..most of her songs was inspired by her Ex from her personal view. Hence it’s flying away as she’s free. The song although is meant for her son when he grows up and understand the world n asked what happen to both of them..as she was young n did not know what she was doing so asking him to go easy on her as she heals and gain the life she wanted to live.love y’all content! Be safe guys!🤙🏼
