As a mom to teenage kids, this hit my mommy heart hard. I became a mom at 18 (abusive marriage- stayed 11 years too long, divorce, remarried-happily, moving, etc.) and every word she says hits home. She could have said the house looks gray and worn out...and I'd cry. lol

#EasyOnMe is NOT about her ex-husband. It is actually for her son,explaining him why she had to give up and went with a divorce. She simply asking him to be easy on her with her decision for her own happiness despite the consequences her son may come around. It explains well in the 2nd verse. In 2nd verse , she says "You can't deny how hard I've tried. I changed who I was to put you both first//But now I give up"

it’s towards her son for everything that occurred at such his young age which hit me so hard cause it’s such a strong story & has so much meaning. especially since she re-furnished the house in rolling in the deep, moved in hello & now is moving out to her new era and new life in easy on me, she is truly a powerful & such a miracle. her music brings me peace & life without her music i don’t know where i would be

Okay… I had to comment! If you notice the Rolling in the Deep, Hello, and this house are similarly the same. So I agree, it is her starting a new journey as she watches others live their life. I saw three different perspectives from this song. (1)Yes, she could definitely be talking to herself and telling herself it’s okay to feel the things that make her sad. (2) Maybe she’s speaking to the new person she’s with and telling him that all the things she learned about love were at a naive age so take easy as I try to do it right and better with whomever or (3)[MY FAV] She is talking to her son! She had a child with the man she divorced so that must be hard on a child watching that. So she’s saying to him, I tried to put you and daddy first (put you both first) but she couldn’t and gave up (divorce). And notice it was on tape, which means she can play it back at anytime for him. And even in the new house its bigger, colorful and with more rooms, maybe because as her love is growing so is her family…. Okay I might be crazy but yea! LOVED IT! Keep going guys.

Gentlemen not sure where your insight on human beings comes from emotionally and those lyrics are specific to her journey but most women especially that have raised families and may had careers plus family members she spent 5 years trying to achieve this undivided attention to her son and man by depriving herself of her artistry...she couldn't get anything to resonate anymore....felt like why am I horrible at making them completely happy....she should charge an extra fee for the type of therapy/healing that happens when you listen to this song.....mindblowing
