Vocal weight vs. Resonance Lara is doing more difficult things than Adele vocally, yet she makes it look so effortless! This really shows that Lara deserves much more recognition. Adele is a phenomenal songwriter. When it comes to vocals, she's good however Lara is leaps & bounds above her yet she's not a household name.

@TIK TOK as a mezzo Adele should’ve won the low belts, b/c mezzo’s voices shine in the midrange/mid belts. But b/c Lara has much better breath support, superior ring, and is a lot more technically proficient than Adele she easily wins mid range too. Nd this hardly touched soprano territory. Everything below Eb5 is midrange, Nd E5-F5+ when belting is soprano territory.

@TIK TOK as far as low notes sure, Adele just might have Lara beat. But Lara has a much superior head voice, having support up to C6, operatic ring til B5, Nd sustains them til A5/Bb5, which is all pretty much soprano territory.

Before this started I already was like oh this isnt going to end well for Adele. Few vocalists are as consistent and can stand up to Lara. As far as resonance, of the current singers I would say Morissette is the only one that has similar, impeccable technical proficiency. By the way there is no U in Lara's name, it's Lara (like Lara Croft from Tomb Raider), not Laura. Great reaction!

Yes Adele is. But Lara is also an amazing storyteller and songwriter. And in 4 languages ( english, french, italian, spanish)! She has written 70% of the songs she has released and Igor Krutoy said she is the best singer and songwriter he has ever worked with. If you want acting check her Je suis Malade or Her cover of Yentl And if you want songwriting in english you can check her broken vow, covered later by Josh Groban or Barbra Streisand.

Hi Thank you for this reaction. I love both singers who are two great artist as well. However, when it comess with vocal dynamics and agility, Lara is better than Adele: you can see her actual capacities in her French songs where she can whisper after having belted or she can have a lot of variations around a note. Ex: Bambina is the perfect example. I would also say that she is better in vocal dynamics and agility than Mariah Carey (who is known to be one of the best in that fields). People don't know that because her songs have not been broadcasted as much as those of Mariaah Carey or Celine Dion.

I'm with you on saying this was set up.. Don't get me wrong. They are both very talented. But each in their own way.. I love Adele's writing and her music in general, I know more of her work but that's also because as an artist she gets wider coverage. Also I love her singing style.. Its unattainable for most of us but still raw and realistic. Lara is another beast, she has vocal chops that few can ever dream of having. Breath support, resonance that very very few artists can compete with and range and tone that is phenomenal.. yet she isn't as popular or given as much coverage as someone with that level of talent should have but the tracks that do gain coverage and exposure be it due to popularity or the buzz we create online around them, they are insanely good and show just how insanely good she is.. but that someone felt they were comparable... come on now.. this is like comparing Toni Braxton to Mariah.. we all love Toni and she's talented as hell but we cannot go around comparing their talent like they sing the same way, cos they don't..

I like watching your reactions to Lara Fabian. I agree with you. I think she is most outstanding in the quality of her belting. She likes to sustain a Bb4, B4, C5, C#5, D5, Eb5. For me her most impressive belt is in Je T'aime, she sustains an F5 to Eb5, but after about 2000 she didn't perform it.

It's because she's belting out songs that are touching to countless people around the world & her voice is naturally hefty. In mainstream music these days, most are not really singing like that. Singers like Ariana & Demi also belt & sing well but their material isn't as "classic" sounding as Adele's. Rihanna & Taylor aren't really singing like that. A vocalist like Beyonce who is leaps & bounds above Adele isn't even regarded by the masses as the great vocalist she is because of her material especially these days which has mostly been rap singing, many people not liking her tone & when people see a singer being scantily clad, the masses start viewing them differently.

Because no amount of belting, runs or long sustained notes (and Adele can still do all of these things) can convey the amount of sincere emotion that Adele can express with a haunting whisper, masterful phrasing and understanding of dynamics, colour and shading. Some people still value singers who can sincerely connect to the lyrics and make the listener experience the emotions of the song. Singers like Adele prioritize intimate, authentic interpretation of the lyrics whereas other singers see lyrics as hooks to hang notes on and the melody as a vehicle for impressive but empty vocal acrobatics and melodramatic pyrotechnics. Adele is a singer in the tradition of Billie Holiday and Etta James not Beyonce and Christina Aguilera.
