Are all of your arrangements using a deeper 1st string, instead of the typical high G? I love all of your song choices. Many things I’ve practiced of guitar. Just wanted to make sure I could play these with my basic ukulele I got in Hawaii :)

Yes, 99% of my arrangements are recorded in Low g, which is the 4th string not first. I'd say about 30 to 40% of my arrangements also come in high G, my music sheet store will give you an idea since you can filter it by tuning. And you can also swap strings easily if you're interested in a specific arrangement but don't want to own 2 ukuleles The majority of my students (and myself) own multiple ukuleles though, at least one of which is in low g tuning all the best!

@ thank you for your clarification. I have one last little question. Will it work by just tune my fourth string high G down to a low G tuning or do I need to change the string for it to work?? I definitely plan to get more ukuleles very soon and I will definitely have one that is permanently low G tuning

I want to say no, I haven't heard of a case where it works but you can literally try it now and see what happens! My intuition though says no!

Thank you again for your quick response! That is what my gut told me as well, but had to ask. I’ll give it a try

if you look at my really old videos (look up Stairway to heaven and videos around that period, I believe 4 years ago), you'll see me playing a Concert ukulele with high g originally, I changed the 4th string to guitar's D string and tuned that one up to G...it worked, but if your ears can tell, those videos had all sort of intonation issues...my current custom made ukulele is gold...and proper 4th string is one part of the story...maybe this message will get you started on your own journey :)

I don't think you are playing what is written at measure 11. You played the hammer from 11 to 12 at the same time you played the 11 and 9 at the same time. You played it reversed I think

I just checked it, wasn't really able to follow your comment but the sound matches the tab in bar 11 and bar 12, maybe try describing it again 🤔?

@@MKFingerstyleAcademy Sorry, yeah my first was rather confusing. After the slide from 7, you played 12 on the a-string, 11 on the a-string, then 11 on the a-string and 9 on the c-string, followed by the hammer to 12. On the sheet it is written as the hammer coming before the c-string is played.

I see, don't read the tab. If you look at the music sheet the notes are 'smaller' in size with a slash up top and don't fit the beat. Meaning, these are sort of like grace notes. You play 11-12-11 (hammer on pull off) all on beat which coincides with the 9 on 3rd string. So visually it looks like the way it does but aurally you hear the bass note AND the trill at the same time. This is the same for bar 12. I talk about all that in my UFB course ^_^
