This is part 1 of a conversation I had with two ayahuasca shaman while on retreat in Peru in May 2019.
A lot of what I ask here are on behalf of others, who have asked questions on either reddit or in the comments sections of my videos, and so in some cases I am being somewhat of a "devils advocate" here.
Also I fully appreciate that the translation can be a little bit clunky in places, but I think overall the spirit of the conversation comes across fairly well, and provides some interesting insights into the mindset and motivations of these unique characters.
One thing that really stood out for me in this conversation was just how sincere Misael and his father were in their belief in what they do. I'm sure some people might disagree with the details, but you cannot argue with how committed they are to their chosen path. This is a dedicated lifestyle, and when you hear about the various dietas and what these people sacrifice, then any accusations of "charlatans making a cash grab" begins to look ridiculous.
