The members of The Easybeats in 1966 were, Dick Diamonde, Harry Vanda, George Young, Stevie Wright and Gordon 'Snowy' Fleet. George's younger brothers, Angus and Malcolm you may know from a slightly successful band called ACDC. Stevie Wright went solo and had a huge hit with Evie. Vanda and Young became rather successful in the songwriting field. The Easybeats were the foundation of some of Australia's greatest music.

The Easybeats were an Australian band, but all of them were immigrants to Australia. Singer Stevie Wright and drummer Gordon "Snowy" Fleet were English. Guitarist/pianist George Young was Scottish. (As elsewhere noted, he was the older brother of Malcolm and Angus.) Guitarist Harry Vanda and bassist Dick Diamonde were Dutch. Harry had played on the Dutch scene and Snowy on the Liverpool circuit. In fact when they went to England, Paul McCartney invited them to his place, and he recognized Snowy from their time in Liverpool.

Ha ha how funny the Easybeats were big in the UK until they got home sick and came home the starting the Australian Pub rock sceen. The songwriters Harry Vanders and George Young in the photo the lead singer Stevie Wright kneeling Harry Vanders and next to Stevie is George Young they besides the guitarists wrote All the Easybeats songs, they also wrote for Stevie wright after they broke up like Blackeyed Bruiser, Guitar Band, and the epic Evie 1,2 and 3. George and Harry were mentioned in Dire Straits Sultanas of Swing they are of course Guitar George and Harry with a day time job. Vanders and Young were huge in the Australian rock music writing a couple but producing 5 albums for George's little brother's Malcolm and Angus's band AC/DC as well as many others. The Bay City Rollers covered one of their songs, Yesterdays Heros. Vanders and Young were a massive influence in Australian Rock.

Classic song, Harri ! .. A few years back in a poll taken here in Australia, this song won the title of best Australian song ever ! .. In the 60s, there were 2 really popular Australian pop / rock bands, The Easybeats and The Twilights .. They were like our equivalents to The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, with The Easybeats and The Stones being the more grittier, rockier bands, and The Twilights and The Beatles being more pop oriented .. Please check out more Easybeats and some Twilights if you can .. Cheers, Wayne

Merry Christmas, Harri! I do love how you're reacting to the less obvious classics. Thank you for this. Absolutely, this is a great track! The Easybeats recorded a number of memorable songs, though this one is their biggest success. Rhythm guitarist and co-songwriter, George Young, is the elder brother to AC/DC's Malcolm and Angus. George, with bandmate Harry Vanda, got into music management and production after the group disbanded, even to being producers for AC/DC's first handful of albums. Another brother, Alex, was in a moderately successful London-based 60s group called Grapefruit.

They were bigger than The Bee Gees in their native Australia until the early '70s. But success outside of Oz eluded them until they were assigned Shel Talmy, the Who's producer, by the UA label to record an album in London. He went through all the songs they had written and decided that "Friday On My Mind" was the most viable. Talmy was right. It became a worldwide hit. Thanks Daniel & Harri.

They helped them by producing the first five albums of AC/DC's . Stevie Wright influenced Bon Scott tremendously. By the way Harri the Young's were born and raised in Glasgow , Scotland then moved to Australia and the rest is rock and roll history. 🙃👍

Actually Harri this song didn't stand out as being unusual, or different. There was a wealth of very talented 60's groups who had upbeat songs on AM radio that were usually one hit wonders. During the late 50's through the mid 70's the incredible talent level of artists, and the seemingly endless supply of new talent was amazing, regardless the genre. Before the start of FM radio I listened to bands like the Easybeats, and Loving Spoonful on AM radio, while I used a shortwave radio for underground music such as the Byrds, and later groups like Iron Butterfly and King Crimson. Harri I hope you and everyone who reads this has a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
