He is the one on her right in this video or in the middle of the black & white photo. They have been married 50 years. "One Less Bell to Answer " is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, so I guess it was written by a man's perspective back in the day, as men can cook their own eggs these days. But if you were lucky enough to obtain a Burt Bacharach to sing, it was a sure thing it would be a hit.

They had a string of hits back in the seventies and they were extremely talented singers and musicians. The underrating doesn't come from the fans it comes from the critics and the media and where they stand next to their peers in the annals of History. I about cried to see Marilyn and Billy watch themselves in the found footage from Harlem’s Summer of Soul. They were so proud, and had such strong feelings of support in their Blackness that day. They’d taken a lot of crap from the Black community for “singing white,” and they really felt validated from that Harlem show. It is indeed called One Less Bell To Answer by the 5th Dimension from their 1970 album called Poitrait which spawned four top 40 hits in the USA. This album was one of the first albums after the Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band to be layered from beginning to end at a new 16 track recording facility. The other three hits from the album are : This Is Your Life, Puppet Man and Save The Country. This album is arguably the best album by the 5th Dimension and is well worth an album reaction. An album that should be in every album collection. If you don't have this album, your collection can never be complete!

The 5th Dimension were "all that" back in the day. Some black folks labeled them as sellouts because they didn't do to many "soul songs". But anyone that loved good music loved their music (I know I did). Undoubtedly Marilyn McCoo's voice was a standout, but the entire group could hold their own if they had to. Great song.
