Unfortunately not the original version-you need to seek them out doing a performance version from the 50s as they mime to the record-you'll enjoy their dance moves.

Sounds like a souless weak reissue. Not sure it's even them.🤔 Definitely need to check out the original.

There's almost nothing worse than cheap, re-recorded versions of hit songs that wr all know the true sound of. It's almost blasphemous, lol. There was a record company called K-Tel that put these horrible, re-recorded nonsense compilation CDs out in the 80s, 90s and 00s. Hopefully they are out of business.

I remember dancing to this and other great songs of the 50's and early 60's on K-Tel records my mom purchased. Happy 80th birthday on Sunday.

This was originally called "Do the Bop" and the Band's name was The Juvenairs. After meeting Dick Clark, he convinced them to change their name to Danny and The Juniors and the song to Let's Go to the Hop. Released in 1957, it was the top selling single of 1958. It's popularity soared after Sha Na Na sang it at Woodstock in 1969 and again in 1973 after the release of movie American Grafitti. Fabulous song with great vocals and drums guitars and a rockin piano. 🎹🎹🎹 Great reaction Harri.Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

I was about to suggest that Harri react to some Sha Na Na, and I know he will like it.

This is what the 50's were. Just got over WWII and the Korean War and us baby boomers and our Greatest Generation Parents were enjoying life.

This DOES NOT sound like the version I am familiar with. If I was to guess I'd say this was a cover from a K-Tel record of hits by "The Original Artists".

I agree, doesn't sound like them

I saw a video of them performing this song on tv. They have a dance routine. The lead singer is also the lead dancer and pulls some acrobatic moves. Really cool band.

The Hop always reminds me of my first steady. We both loved to dance and in the winter we all hung out in the gym and our music teachers would put on records and we'd dance our lunch hour away. The Hop was always a big favorite. As an aside, he had a beautiful baritone and when we slow danced to Yesterday (Beatles) he would sing in my ear. Imagine how he melted my little 16-year-old self!!

At the Hop was for sock hop in a gym where you couldn't wear shoes that's where the term comes from

This is a remake by the Danny and the Juniors when they were adults later. but that's okay there's not much difference. May be slightly slower. the piano part has some differences. it just doesn't have the same punch as the original 1958 record.

Feb 3, 1959: the day the music died. Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper died in a plane crash outside Clear Lake, Iowa. How about a Buddy Holly reaction? His influence was undeniable. The Beatles, The Stones, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello and Elton John all list him as a major influence on their music.

Another of the 50's doo-wop groups. Their biggest hit was "At The Hop" but they had a few other songs such as "Rock & Roll Is Here To Stay", "Dottie", "Twistin' USA" etc.
