I adore Mind Games. After the Beatles separated, I used to listen to John's music for hours on end. John always was and still is my number one Beatle. I remember when he died, I was walking on that cold December 9th morning to university when I met a friend who gave me the terrible news, I just went back home and spent hours crying in my room. It was like losing someone close to me as I had grown up listening to the Beatles. Then, I stopped listen to him as I felt extremely upset and could not come to terms with his death. It took me years to go back to his music again.

To me it’s about a lot more than love, religion and politics. It is possibly his deepest song. We're playing those mind games together Pushing the barrier, planting seed Playing the mind guerrilla Chanting the Mantra "peace on earth" We all been playing those mind games forever Some kinda druid dude lifting the veil Doing the mind guerrilla Some call it magic, the search for the grail Love is the answer and you know that for sure Love is a flower You got to let it, you gotta let it grow So keep on playing those mind games together Faith in the future, out of the now You just can't beat on those mind guerrillas Absolute elsewhere in the stones of your mind Yeah, we're playing those mind games forever Projecting our images in space and in time Yes is the answer and you know that for sure Yes is surrender You got to let it, you gotta let it go So keep on playing those mind games together Doing the ritual dance in the sun Millions of mind guerrillas Putting their soul power to the karmic wheel Keep on playing those mind games forever Raising the spirit of peace and love Love I want you to make love, not war I know you've heard it before Here are some comments that I think capture John’s meaning in this song: "Mind games" are a good thing, not a bad thing. Mind games are the seemingly small but history-changing efforts of a small group of spiritually enlightened "mind guerillas" to "push [the] boundaries" of human social constructs, to "plant the seeds" of peace, and to "lift the veil" of the divine. This song is a rallying cry for all those silent bodhisattvas, sufis, and gnostics who through their small actions and intentions guide humanity toward the ultimate answer, which is...love.” "Mind games" is a euphemism for our entrapment in the five sense world that we perceive as reality "projecting our images in space and time" through love and peace we can realise our unlimited potential "love is the answer" He wanted for us to understand we are all one infinite consciousness. “ We play these games throughout life of acting a certain way or doing things that seemingly please others. We have faith in the future, out of "Now", Meaning we never allow ourselves to truly live life in the here and now. I think John was speaking to the "Now" meaning try just once to think about right now. Smell the roses, look at the trees and appreciate what we have at present. Absolute elsewhere, dreaming of being not in the present as if the present holds no answers, so we project ourselves into a different time or space with the hope of something better.” I take the time to dig this up because this is how I’ve always felt about the song. I love it! This is not to say that any of your comments were not true, I agree with you Harri. I just wanted to get the deep message out there.
@B.R.01013 жыл бұрын
I read this comment and now they say we're in 2024, but, hey, I agree with you. Intuition and participation in other life...

A very touching story... kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3OTfZaCg8yXhpI You mentioned John's anti-war activism, pushing for peace on Earth and all, you should do his "Give Peace A Chance". It's not a masterpiece of his music, but it's very catchy and if you can do the KZbin video with lyrics that would be ideal. As you do his various solo works, it's one you must hear sooner or later. Harri, I totally appreciate that you most often react to the studio versions with no visuals to distract you--I'm a firm believer that's the best way to experience a song for the first time in almost all cases during the pre-MTV era. It allows you to focus on the music and really get lost in it--letting the sounds and lyrics create the imagery in your mind. But now that you've reacted to this song, I would recommend you watch the following video of the song, which has some fantastic footage of John in NYC: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIe8iYqMqJWDqMU
