This song is the perfect show opener. I’d recommend doing Sick Things off this same album. Alice’s vocal range is quite impressive in it. For his entire band to all shine in one song, react to Halo of Flies. It’s a monster of a song and a masterpiece…but then again, the entire album it’s on is a masterpiece; the album, Killer, is iconic.

Frank Zappa was in a club when Alice was performing. They scared the bejesus out of the crowd, they emptied the place. Frank said "I gotta sign these guys" lol. Lots of Zappa stories with these guys. Good times

Love Alice, great album, but my favorite cut has to be “Generation Landslide” with that awesome harmonica solo! Alice actually had several huge hits that were slow songs, love ballads - “You and Me”, “Only Women Bleed”, “How You Gonna See Me Now”, “I Never Cry”. Definitely worth a deep dive. I could play you a few of his songs and you’d never guess it was him!

All of his earlier songs were of a "Musical" nature, the music and vocals supporting the theme. "Desperado" off Killer or The Ballad of Dwight Fry are perfect examples.

"Hello Hooray" and "Only Women Bleed" are my two favourite Alice Cooper songs. I love their grandiosity and drama. These qualify for Theatrical Rock, for sure. Note that Alice Cooper was one of the three first acts to incorporate Theatre, sets and drama into their live performances. The other two were David Bowie and Peter Gabriel in his Genesis days. So it isn't surprising that when Gabriel was ready to record his first solo album in 1977, he chose Alice Cooper's producer, Bob Ezrin of Toronto, who by then was already world famous, having given Alice Cooper their sound and musical direction.

I was 15 and billion dollar baby tour was gonna be my first concert. I was a huge Alice Cooper fan, still am. I had my ticket (5.00), but lost it days before concert. Tried to buy another but they sold out! I was crushed. But I'd like to say that on may 9 th me and my girl and going to see him. Waited 51 years, but we're gonna rock!!!

This is one of the greatest rock anthems of all time. I bought this album in the 70s. When I was 16. Alice Cooper is to me the coolest rock star of all time. I prefer his early Material.. That voice of his is so cool. I love his video "elected" too. Totally the coolest guy. I wish I was him.

Hands down one of my absolute favorites regardless of genres! This album had a VERY distinct sound and unique tone I never heard on another album-by the Alice Cooper band or any other! Darkly melodic with equally dark lyrics-almost Edgar Allen Poe-like! THANK YOU FOR DIVING INTO A FORGOTTEN CLASSIC MY BROTHER!! I’m sure you’ve heard ELECTED” off this album, so PLEASE take “SICK THINGS” & GENERATION LANDSLIDE” for a spin! You’ll TOTALLY APPRECIATE how singularly UNIQUE they still are! The song was recorded in 1972 hence the recording quality. In those days the band would come off tour and have two to three weeks to record an album so there wasn’t much time for multiple takes.

In the 70's, it was the band who were called Alice Cooper, after his drink induced breakdown and spell in the looney bin (check out the album From the Inside), he reinvented himself as a rock-metal performer called Alice Copper.

I saw Alice Cooper's band, minus Alice, at the Pontiac Silverdome 9 July 1977. Alice was then using studio musicians and a touring group, but the band went on briefly calling themselves The Billion Dollar Babies. They were fronted by "Rockin' Reggie" Vinson, who co-wrote the song Billion Dollar Babies with Alice and the band. They never recorded, as far as I know, and this was the only show I remember being promoted. It was a "rock explosion" or something like that, with other bands like Leslie West and Mountain, and a hot air balloon bobbing up and down inside the domed stadium. Sorry, I rambled a little. The latter is closer to being like this one but Love It To Death was voted best party album by the dude from Motorhead, right around the time people were trying to play that "you have to make a choice" game between bands and the bands were Alice Cooper and Motorhead. I can't see much point in this song except as the lead-off to the album. This is his "we're Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, we hope you will enjoy the show" introduction to the album. The title track is the payoff song, his duet with Donovan. This sounds great though.(?) The great songs on the album are Billion Dollar Babies, the hit single No More Mr. Nice Guy, Generation Landslide and the humoristic Unfinished Sweet.

First time I saw Alice Cooper was in 1981. It was a fantastic show and have seen him a few times since then. You have to see him perform in order to really understand him. Welcome to My Nightmare, Feed My Frankenstein, Schools Out...so many songs!

Saw them perform several times. 1st time at Boston's Music Hall in '72, then again at The Garden in '73 where they opened with this classic. The rest of the band were no slouches. Glen Buxton was one of the great lead guitarists. Even later when Alice went solo, he was always backed by some great sidemen like Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter ( who wrote and played the intro to Reed's 'Sweet Jane').

"Hello Hooray" originally was written by Rolf Kempf. Judy Collins was the first one who was singing it. Alice Cooper's interpretation and lyrics differ from that of Judy Collins.

I love musicals, it's very similar to them, I love theatrical music, like in the theater, earlier in the 70s there was more non-commercial music, it was the majority of groups and performers that produced non-commercial music because in rock music, jazz, funk, there was a lot of improvisation, pop music was not as popular as funk or disco, and only with the onset of the 80s, the appearance of Michael Jackson, all this was able to develop. Alice gave a lot of improvisation in the 70s, thanks to him, I like the album "killer" of 1971, critics rated this album as non-commercial, so what, I like it, Harri

All of his albums were concept albums, so this is meant to be an "opening/intro" song, which, even in musicals, aren't meant to be the "main" or "best" songs of the show. Taken out of that context, yes, you could say it seems a little "out-of-place" for Alice Cooper, but if you ever watch one of his full shows, you'd understand and be able to appreciate it much more. You know, it's kind of like most woman ... they have parts, they walk, sit, bend over, get up, smile, etc. but, when they do ALL of those things, all at the same time, we men lose our minds 😜🤪.

Ezra works lots of background fills in anthems he's produced. This creates a feeling of expansion and weight. He did this with Kiss too. I love the atmosphere. I get why you might not like it. If your equipment is digital that could be an issue. You need analog to hear it correctly. Vinyl too. Its meaty.

This is off of the Billion Dollar Babies album. It got it name because the band was told like many artist about that time that their next album would be a million dollar seller. Because of this you got songs like the last one. Jethro Tull responded with Thick As A Brick, Because who would buy that right. Herb Albert quit preforming as the story goes.

Dave Oplinger hit the nail right on the head. My favorite song is Generation Landslide too. And his love songs shocked a lot of people . Nobody expected that style. Only Women Bleed is so heart felt live in concert. You have to see the video( footage) Back in the day it was a once in a life time moment.
