I think everyone is missing the significance of the songs he chose. Dixie was a Confederate song. Glory, Glory Hallelujah was a Union song. All My Trials summed it up with children lost their fathers no matter the reason for the war. This was naturally understood by the audiences back in the day.

@OverandOutChief1 * I totally agree. Elvis was the most underrated arranger/producer ever! There's a You Tube video of Elvis rehearsing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" in Las Vegas 1970 that shows him putting the production together, directing the musicians and background vocalists, etc. until he got the results he wanted. His talents were limitless! I miss him so much😪

In order to arrange music, you must first be able to read it and write music. Since Elvis could not do any of these, your comments are lies or wishful thinking, pick one and deal with it.
@OverandOutChief1
@OverandOutChief1 Жыл бұрын
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 Somebody better tell artists like Yanni and George Strait that their contributions to the arrangements are null and void. If you are going to speak, at least be informed. Elvis in the studio was in charge of the product coming out. Raise the bass, lower the piano, more choral etc. He could not read or write a note. However, you don't need to. He knew what sounded good to him and strived to record how he heard it. He did this regularly. He was very much part of the production of what he was putting out.

I saw him in concert twice (this same year, 1973 & again the next year) & he did this both times. It nearly brought the roof down both times. I still get goosebumps remembering it. And remembering how incredibly beautiful Elvis was, visually & vocally, in person. Btw, this was sort of a rehearsal/first run through for the "Aloha From Hawaii" special that was televised by satellite all over the world. You really need to see the actual performance that a billion & a half people watched live in 40 countries. It's even better (the flautist is even perfect, no little flub), the backup singers sound clearer..I think Elvis put even more emotion into it(!) & it's even more electrifying. Please, please do a reaction to that version that we all watched, glued to our TVs, covered in goosebumps & with tears in our eyes. We want to see what you think of that one! @@JeanetteFaith We are very lucky indeed! And it's so cool that we both saw him twice...in the same years...and both as he swung through the South. For me it was Nashville in '73 & Louisville in '74. I had close seats also the second time, plus binoculars so even though I didn't need them I used them part of the time anyway. I was examining the pores on that gorgeous face.🤣 AND I looked at tour dates for '73. It says he was in Atlanta on June 29th & 30th. Then in Nashville on July 1st. That means, if you saw him on June 30th, I saw him the very next night! There's a guy who put together a series of videos, one for each year, that shows every tour date..the venue..which jumpsuit Elvis wore..what the band & backup singers wore..& the set list. He even includes a photo of each venue & a couple of pics from each show. Were both shows you attended in Atlanta? I looked at the video for '73 ( I was curious how close together the time period was that we both went) & saw the dates I mentioned above. But didn't see Atlanta in the '74 video. Maybe an error in the video? If you're interested in those videos just type in "Elvis Tour Dates" and the year you want to see. A lot of great info & pics. My mother worked for the Atlanta Newspaper and had connections, so that is how we got tickets. The first time in 1973 we were not that close but it was enjoyable anyway. But the 74 Show was the best concert ever!!!!! So handsome!! I'll check out more on these tour dates, but they had to get it wrong. Four years out of the jungle of Vietnam, I watched this live on TV in Houston, TX in 1973 on my brand new Sony Trinitron 32" TV. Had my beautiful blue eyed blond wife and my 3 year old son at my side and I will never forget the chills the American Trilogy brought to us. Thanks for reminding me.

Elvis’s music will live forever‼️. My Mama saw him as a teenager and put her pen and paper for him to sign, but he signed her arm instead 😮, I asked if she took a photo of it, but she said that she didn’t think of it 😢. Of all of Elvis’s Grammy’s, they are all for his Gospel Music, not one for his secular music, if you notice that when he sings Gospel there is a special atmosphere that comes over him, it’s so beautiful and special‼️ He is truly missed, but I believe he is truly at peace with the Father‼️

It is NOT! Elvis's music. It is only and will ever be songs Elvis sang. In order for it to be Elvis's music, Elvis must have written it. Since he never wrote a song and could not read nor write music, it will only ever be the songs he sang.
@shell0998

I’m sorry if I gave a wrong impression, by his music, I meant the songs that he sang. I don’t think Elvis ever wrote a song, but if you have a tune in your head, there is always someone who can read and write music. Jeff Lynne, writes most of all his music, but he can’t read music. A artist can always find a way to get his music out.

No one comes close to Elvis. I so wish I had seen him in concert but during the 70’s I thought I was too cool ( stupid teenager) to see Elvis. Can you imagine any artist nowadays playing a song with The Lord in the lyrics? Oh, how I wish times were still like that.

Noboby but nobody could deliver a song , or even a note , like Elvis could , even the way he uses the microphone , positioning the microphone closer or further from himself to deliver the best sound , everything he has goes into his delivery . Just the most amazing , charismatic performer ever . Also have to admire how he stops to allow the other band members and musicians to have their moment in the spotlight .
