Great rabbit hole group. If you ever want to try "Lazy" or "Burn", they would likely be amusing, in their own ways.

Highway Star, Child in Time, Space Truckin', No On Came, Smoke On The Water, Fireball, Woman From Tokyo, Burn, Perfect Strangers. This is one DEEP rabbit hole. They were my favorite band after The Beatles broke up.

By the way,Deep Purple had several lineup changes. This was the MkII lineup and the best one. Vocal - Ian Gillan Guitar - Ritchie Blackmore Bass - Roger Glover Keys - Jon Lord Drums - Ian Paice.

"Hard Lovin' Man" from 1970 or "No One Came" from 1971. Both songs are the last songs on each album, Killer Stuff!

Great stuff! You might like Space Truckin'. It's ridiculously fun. The studio version is your best bet.

When I was at school, back in the late 70s, myself and four friends formed a band and THIS was the very first song we learned and performed live. I wish I could say that my bass playing was anywhere near as amazing as Roger Glover's or that my vocal was even 5% as good as Ian Gillan's, but they weren't. However, it is great fun to perform and for the next couple of years, audiences at our gigs loved it. I think you're thinking of the DP song, Child In Time. Check out Highway Star, Space Truckin'.

Back in 1970 this was the song that made me a Deep Purple fan. So good still sounds fantastic really loved the transitions and tune the riffs the whole thing. For more Deep Purple try; Highway star, Smoke on the Water, Lazy, Space Truckn, Woman from Tokyo, Super Trouper, Burn, Fireball, Speed King and Flight of the Rat for starters. Great reaction, hit more DP please.

Anything off Made in Japan, this will give you a better idea of what Deep Purple were best at, the live performances. Also, for the heavy hitters, Hard Lovin Man, Flight of the Rat, Gypsy's kiss, Fireball, Space Truckin, Highway star, the list is massive.

Now you're talking! One of my favourite groups. Love Ian Gillans vocals, he was not bad on the eye either 👁️. Must do is Never Before, which is more funky. Also, "Burn" by DP. Different lead singer and bassist. David Coverdale (later in Whitesnake), and Glenn Hughes. Please do the live version California 1974. It goes off!

The Beatles were my favorite group until 1968 when I first heard DP. They're still my favorite band, DP'S newest LP came out in 2020. If you don't mind checking out something newer "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming from 1994 "Perpendicular"

Hush, emmareta, fireball, space truckin, burn, sail away. Their music from the 60's in 70's was better but they've remained consistent, they can still make a decent song in the 2020's. I like the song 'nothing at all' from their latest album. Funny how boring smoke on the water is (aside from the part where they shout out Frank Zappa & The Mothers) compared with almost every other song they released

Harri, good to see you rocking out to one of the UK pioneers of heavy rock, not quite a live performance (only the vocals of Ian Gillan ) to a mimed backings track as TV would not allow bands play live in those days , check out their "woman from Tokyo" , spell binding rock. Take care kid.

React to Flight of the Rat off this same album. Deep Purple in Rock. It is a real jammer.

There's two things which slightly check our enjoyment of this song. One, it's a blatant rewrite of Tobacco Road [JD Loudermilk/The Nashville Teens]. Two, as everyone knows nowadays, the riff is copied from We Aint Got Nothin Yet by The Blues Magoos (well, that's the true source, though Ritchie preferred to cite a Ricky Nelson track where the riff is similar but not identical) One way to absorb the highlights of DPs first and best lifespan, 1968 to 1976, is this kzbin.info/aero/PLKdffcKdwgmU98TPCVyax1YAaGViLmP1L
