Yes. She s beautiful, sweet and sings wonderful. Hosted her own show back in the day too. Had many popular songs. Classy woman.

You have it nailed, It was a big hit. Her second album was even bigger than her first hit and album: "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue"

There was a time when some "traditional" country singers started crossing over. I agree.... this has a pop sound with a bit of country as well. Crystal Gayle had a huge hit with "Don't it make your brown eyes blue ". Great reaction. Take care....

It was called a "crossover" hit back in the day. Crystal was probably my first country album purchase when i was a teen. I loved doing her songs in the karaoke days.

Sweet voice, and she's very much a country star in those days, but she did some crossover work like this. Doesn't matter, she sings so nicely.

Crystal guested on Solid Gold hosted by Andy Gibb & dueted with him on two songs, Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue & another of her hits. They sound great together, Andy was a duet king who had a knack of being able to blend his voice with anyone. It's an awesome performance, check it out!

@@robinfry4408 Great suggestions! If you've never seen Andy sing Comin' In & Out Of Your Life on Solid Gold, it's worth watching! The SG music director has a channel with great videos, & he talks about how he talked Andy into singing it!

I've always enjoyed Crystal Gayle's voice. She is a great country music singer & is the younger sister of Loretta Lynn. She is known for her floor length hair. She had a lot of hit songs in the 70's-80's such as "Cry Me A River", "I'll Get Over You", "Wrong Road Again", "Ready For The Times To Get Better", "Talking In Your Sleep", "You & I" etc.

I was about 28 and 1977 when her first crossover hit Don't Make My Brown Eyes Blue came out. When I heard it on the radio I fell in love with her warm sultry voice, and when I saw it she looked like, that clinched it and I was infatuated for about 25 years, and still am actually. Funny you mentioned posters--I was in Tower Records in New York City in the late 70s or early 80s and they had a like 5 foot high cardboard image of her as a promotion. The store manager gave it to me for free. I saw her perform in Morristown New Jersey in 1978. She sounded live exactly like live she did on her recordings, which were produced by Allen Reynolds with natural recording techniques. After the concert she came out and sat on the edge of the stage and signed autographs for about an hour. When it was my turn I asked her to sign my program, To _______ and I indicated the version of spelling of my name (not my channel name), but she look confused, so I spelled it for her but I forgot an "e". She wrote it down exactly as I had spelled it, and I told her I forgot the first "e", and she said she would just squeeze it in where it belonged. I didn't have a camera that night (she loved having her photo taken). She was appearing the next night at large amusement park elsewhere in the state for the price of general admission, so I borrowed a camera and got there in time for the second show at 10 PM, but because it threatened rain, instead of the outdoor arena they moved it to the musical, but it was full and I couldn't get in. I waited a couple hours until the concert was over and went in through one of the exit doors when the audience was leaving, and waited by the stage for her to come out. There was a security guard there who was trying to get those people waiting for her to leave, and there was a guy with expensive camera gear who was arguing with he guard that he came all the way from upstate to photograph her. I just stood back to see what the outcome would be, but then Crystal came out and the guard let the matter drop. She was on the stage and the few fans were on the theater floor in front of the stage. She asked if I wanted her to just stand or sit for the photos--like she was posing for me (I chose stand). I told her I didn't get to see her perform that evening but I saw her the night before--she had trouble spelling my name, _______. She looked upward for a second and then said, "I forgot the 'e'". Can you imagine with all the people she sees that she remembered that. She's very smart, in addition to being beautiful and a great singer. By the way, she's only about 5'1", but for the first few years in all her TV appearances she seemed taller because of her long hair and proportionate figure, and she was always filmed from a low angle to make her look taller.

Loretta Lynns baby sister. Her real name is Brenda Lee Webb. But they changed it because of the GREAT BRENDA LEE. Loretta gave her the stage name of Crystal Gayle. When you see them together, you can tell they're sisters. Both have beautiful blue eyes. IMO, If you watch footage of Crystal when she 1st started out(before any hits), she sounds a lot like Loretta.
