Peter Criss is great it's highly underrated singing and drumming

I had all of the KISS records on vinyl when I was 9 in 1981, and one day I came home from school and found my mom on the porch with her accoustic guitar playing and singing this song. She'd obviously taken a liking to my KISS albums. Even funnier was when I came home and found her making a dance routine to "Whip It" by Devo.

paul stanley (kiss) admired rod stewart so much that he wrote this maggie may-inspired song as possible song FOR rod stewart himself. in the end, they kept it for themselves.

Yes, "Beth" was Kiss's biggest hit. Definitely worth listening to for Peter Chriss' vocals. Ace Frehley had a pretty good solo hit with "New York Groove." Another good song you should react to.

I love Peter's voice. He's really incredible. You should listen to Baby Driver on Rock and Roll Over album by KISS. Black Diamond, Nothin' To Lose etc. All great rock and roll tunes sung by Peter Criss.
@karlshuler10113 жыл бұрын
Paul Stanley wrote this to give to Rod, but Eddie Kramer and Peter Criss wanted to do it. All the credit should go to Eddie Kramer for his production on the song and album. Peter tried to go solo but failed miserably but I think you're right if he just sang songs like this he may of had a pretty good solo career.

Rod Stewart's only membership in a Band was "The Small Faces". He then went into his solo career in 1970 or 71 when he recorded Maggie Mae.

He's been in a lot of groups early in his career but he was never in the Small Faces, he was a semi-detached member of the Faces though.

Peter Criss was under-used as a lead vocalist with Kiss. He does a great job on all the songs he's been lead vocalist. Mostly few deep cuts, but Beth and Hard Luck Women were two popular singles. Kiss closes most of their concerts with black Diamond from the first Kiss album, and after the short intro, he's the lead vocalist. Also off the first album, he becomes the adlib vocalist in the chorus of Nothing To Lose. almost a hybrid of Rod Stewart and Little Richard. He is sorely missed as their drummer, leaving the band a few times to drugs.

Love your reactions they are always so good. And yes I agree Peter does have a nice voice and does a great job on this song. And I’m sure Others have already told you about the song beth ha. For more songs of his on his own you can listen to his 1978 solo album. In that year each member of KISS made a solo album that had songs that they either wrote by themselves or with other people. there was also a cover song on at least three of them. Peters album turned out to have mostly a rhythm and blues type of feel to it which was not too bad and it also had a cover of the song Tossing and turning by Bobbie Lewis which was pretty good. Hope you get to check that out along with some more great kiss music. Happy listening

Anything from Kiss Alive and Alive 2 is amazing. Hard Luck Woman is on Alive 2. The beginning of this song was very reminiscent of “You Wear it Well” by Rod Stewart. I’m not too familiar with Kiss, so it was a surprise. If this singer is featured in more of their songs, perhaps I will explore them further. I love the rasp. 🌺✌️

It really isn't representative of most of the band's songs,and the man who sang it,their drummer Peter Criss,was fired in the early 80s due to his excess drug and alcohol usage.He did do another song,the ballad "Beth",which became their biggest hit.

Peter Criss and Ace Freely had succes while they played in the band, but when they got bigger, perhaps in their mind only, they thought they were all that and a tuna sandwich! Turned out they weren’t for one reason or another! Self destruction was the problem due to using drugs, and not being a team player.
