There’s a lot of great ska made in the last 30 years. Ska exploded around the world after 2tone faded away. Now there are bands playing all sorts of variations of ska. I highly suggest the Slackers. Their song International War Criminal is one of my favs.

This band were played a lot back then, but like you my memory is a bit foggy. I love what they did with Ska in the late 70s and 80s. If you think of that time in the UK the mood wasn't great (think of The Specials "Ghost Town" summing that up well) but we had all this wonderful hi energy feel good stuff to make us smile. Time for a resurgence in Ska if you ask me ! Great reaction.

Got this in my collection, saw them at Tiffany's Glasgow around the time this came out , it was a great bill. Specials , Selecter and Madness .

Love the SKA!!! Try something a little newer, like Life if the Party, by Canadian ska legends, the Planet Smashers. I got to see them play live twice this year!

I have to disagree slightly in that there are no punk influences and my favorite music is, in order, punk, oi, ska, reggae, etc. Best Ska bands for me are Madness, The Specials, The Selector, and a few others.
