I might start out by forgetting one thing in a day, but then, being upset with myself, I forget something else, and then something else because I'm stressed over that. It's like a Vortex that I go down into and the day can just get worse and worse. Sorry to be negative, but it's been one of those days today. This video was very well timed. Thank you.

How do people with ADHD stay focused on this for 47 minutes? I don't have ADHD but have family members who do and I'm challenged to keep focus! Good tips from what I did hear! I can't seem to see the download link, like another person.

I write things that pop into my head onto a notecard and hold on to it if i need to act on it. I also text myself notes and screen shots, then every few days i have to process that info. I rewrite my messy to do lists several times through the day, because I add messy notes all over it. I try to focus on only five things to remember at a time, one for each finger on one hand, so that I dont get overloaded. I make my to do list for the week, not the day, then fit it in as i can, tonopen spaces in my schedule, starting with urgent.

At my daughter's dr appointments, I struggle to converse with the drs and take notes. I explain that i have adhd and need to take notes, but they continue talking and derail me from what i was trying to write down. They tell me they will give us discharge instructions, but those are overwhelming and I cant look at them for very long.

I would encourage you to ask their permission to record the appointment for your own recall purposes. If they refuse, then let them know that you will be interrupting them along the way to take thorough notes. Don't them boss you around. You've got this!

I have noticed that different sounds, such as the beeping of a van backing up, seem to zero out my working memory, give me anxiety, and irritability. Is this related to adhd?

It can be. Those sounds are distractions that pull you away from what you doing in the moment.
