When I forget where I left my water bottle, I tell myself I’ll get it later and then proceed to go the entire day without drinking anything. I need a GPS for my water bottles 😅

Attach an air tag or a tile to it. You can track it or some can make a chirping sound activated from your phone. But you have to know where your phone is. 😄

that’s why my bottle never leaves my side haha. My bottle is also a quarter of the size of the daily recommendation of fluid intake, so it makes it much easier for me to only have to fill it up three to four times a day rather than 18. Also, Ive trained myself to go use the bathroom every time I have to fill up my water, so no more forgetting to go pee now either. The last thing I do before I go to sleep is full my cup to the top, and use the bathroom. First thing I do in the morning is drink the whole cup, or just half depending on.. things, and use the bathroom again. Then while I’m in the bathroom I see my toothbrush and am reminded to brush my teeth. Im ocd as well, so when I brush my teeth, I feel like I HAVE to take a shower. I can’t explain it, but I just need my whole body to be clean; I can’t clean just one part only.

I'll just trauma dump here, I have no other place. Being a senior in high school and having ADHD is pretty difficult. It's not easy I promise. I have watched many videos about how to control thoughts and how to study better and how to focus more, nothing helped. Add above that, house is too small, and my room is with the same wall as the living room, specifically the wall that has the tv mounted on, and my father usually watched tv with a high volume, so it can't get any worse. best I can do is close my door, put on my headphones, and hope that none of the tv sounds reach me. plus the overstimulation, I have a physics quiz in two days now and I have 3 lessons (they're short but difficult to understand) and I haven't finished 2 lessons yet, I got way too overstimulated to go on. sometimes I feel like sitting like a ball and start to cry, just because the overstimulation is too strong. if anyone read this, thank you so much.

You seem to have pretty good reflection ..keep that and take care ! .. i wish you had better living space when i was a teenager i moved my bed next to the washing machine as that tiny room had quiet energy .. nobody understood this .. i hope you can use friends to help you study and concentrate, being alone sucks as you continuously bump into the same wall ..i also hope you can sometimes use ritalin for study if that helps .. thanks for dumping :-) !! Good luck !

I feel for you. I was diagnosed at 55 but grew up in a quieter era. I hope you find quieter options soon. My dad still uses his wireless headphones for his tv and cds, even in the nursing home he has just moved to. Maybe your dad can get some? Perhaps remind him that when he gets old, a lot of his care decisions might be down to you! And time goes so quickly! I wish you and your dad, all the best. Treasure each other while you still have each other.

Hey, this was me two years ago. I feel you on the overstimulation and the overwhelm! I also had trouble studying at home, with 7 younger sibs and so much snowballing self-doubt over late assignments. In 11th grade, I failed my first class ever in part because of how chronically overwhelmed and behind I was. That stress and resulting negative self-perception nearly kept me from graduating as a senior. A month after graduation, got my ADHD diagnosis. I’m replying to tell you a few things I wish someone had told me that year: 1. Grades do not always reflect your actual competence and should never be conflated with your worth as a person. 2. Struggling with things like assignments you never used to or that “should be easy” or that everyone else seems to be doing just fine-not a sign of failure. It’s a sign of a system failing you. 3. I promise better moments are ahead. You’re gonna figure the current problems out, slam into new ones, feel like you’re drowning, figure them out, rinse and repeat. You’re not going to suddenly buckle down and do a complete 180 and never fall back into those patterns again, so stop expecting that of yourself. What you can do is learn to accept and accommodate yourself. 4. One step in the right direction is progress, no matter how small it feels to you. 5. Idk what support people you have available, but trust me when I say that speaking up to someone you trust as soon as you’re able is the best way to go. I waited wayyyy too long to tell my parents, teachers, school counselor, and friends how much I was struggling. When I finally did, I received more support than I was expecting. I thought they’d all scoff and dismiss my struggles as laziness, and while there was a teeny bit of that from a couple people, most were surprised but happy to help. Same goes for professors now that I’m in college. Most of them are way more accommodating and understanding than you think they’ll be, and a snubbed email requesting help with ADHD struggles will 100% sting less than wishing you’d sent it before it was too late to pass. 6. Struggling does not mean you don’t deserve to succeed. If your brain is telling you that you didn’t actually try your hardest while you were completely overwhelmed, remind yourself that you deserve the compassion you’d extend to a friend in the same situation. You’ve got this, and I wish you the best!

My hydration got way better when I started physically carrying a waterbottle around with me at school. Like, not in my backpack where I can forget about it, but in my jacket pocket, and when one ran out, I would replace it with another one I had in my backpack. That way I had a reminder to drink water physically touching me at all times, which helped a lot. Kinda cumbersome for some people, but it worked super well for me.

I have found that I need physical reminders for everything. I leave my morning hygiene products out on my bathroom counter, so that I can go right down the line left to right and don’t forgot to do something like put on deodorant or brush my teeth.

I put water in an empty peanut butter jar. I keep empty jars with plastic lids. Jars don't get knocked down so easy as bottles. Jars are easier to clean, and the lid keeps the water clean. I always have two jars in circulation. One by the bed and one on the go. Change every day.

Set your phone wallpaper to something that reminds you of water. A clear blue lake, a waterfall or a glass of fresh, cool water on a table at the beach. Whatever you want, as long as it reminds you of refreshing cool water whenever you unlock the phone. Which everyone does more often than they think.

Also, dont be me. •AuDHD. • Forgets to drink water regularly • Usually drinks 500mL-1L daily, • Human body needs 2.7-3.5L daily. • Lack of water = dehydration • Dehydration = headaches that don’t go away till you drink enough water • Have headache for 2 days then realize it’s from dehydration but at that point you also feel similar to nauseous, and your stomach and throat feel weird • Harder to drink water but you down 700mL(reusable Starbucks venti cup) • Take pain medication •Pain goes away and keeps drinking water through out the day • Pain stays away • Stay decently hydrated for 2 weeks • Rinse and repeat every 1-3 months

If they aren’t in front of me I won’t drink (like today 😅) but when they are all over my house I’m pretty good at yelling at myself to Drink the Water!?! I use a water tracking app also which set up to try & hit 120ml daily it reminds me every few hours. But really I’m just happy if I can get 70-80ml in me! I only drink water now basically too 👏
