Something I learned as a now diagnosed adhd is that adhd is not an excuse to get out of doing things it’s an excuse to find a way to do them just as well as any other person even if that means 15 more minutes, sticky notes and shiny markers

It’s not an inherent ADHD symptom, but it’s very common among people who have ADHD. Basically, it’s a response to complex trauma.

Your shorts have possibly been the best support so far. You present the problem, reasonable solutions and sum it up in an understandable way. Thank you

I grew up in a very supportive environment, but I still have tons of RSD symptoms. from what I know, research suggests RSD is just a part of ADHD and not a response to trauma, although it might make us more susceptible to trauma. The sensitivity to rejection is part of our nervous system before it’s part of our memories & learned habits. I like that you show using exercise and meditation to combat RSD because I personally find that these really aid in nervous system regulation. I e we benefit from regulating our bodies just as much as monitoring our thought processes.

Bingo. Still working on this at 64. It does get better, but the imposter syndrome and rear of rejection are my biggest trials.

I love these videos, I’ve nvr been diagnosed, but I don’t need to be to know I have ADHD. When I see your videos they remind me of the things I had to accept about myself to overcome the fear and pain. The advice you give is great, for someone like you, but it doesn’t always work for someone different…a woman, a person of color. We have to also be aware of the biases that work against us. It’s always an uphill battle and easy to lose hope.

Hits home. I don't think my family ever understood my odd behaviors, and the constant criticism made me feel like a complete screw up. Wish I'd known this years ago.

This is not primarily down to these negative messages about our personalities. Obviously this plays into it, but the vast majority of people with ADHD experience rejection sensitivity dysphoria (RSD) which is essentially being overly sensitive to real or perceived rejection, criticism etc.
