I'm a grownup (twenty-seven) but whenever my Mum visits or I visit her (you know how it goes, making an effort etc) she tells me off for wandering up & down when I'm on the phone. Even though I've done that forever + a thousand other ADD/ADHD thing which she knows I cannot do anything about - it's extremely tedious listening to parents going on about such things. (& it's not as if her Disorder isn't blatantly obvious - & she's just so shouty & tantrum throwing + worse) now that's a real nightmare.. My ADD/ADHD pales intinsignificance compared to her disorder - which apparently we are all supposed to pretend isn't blatantly obvious🙊💜🙈💜 & what's so bad about waking up & down on the phone anyway?!🙏💜

+milton8808 I was about to ask, what if you're both people in this scenario? Given, I'm not always like that on a phone call, but sometimes. Majority of the time, I have to make phone calls in my car due to my calls dropping more often than not. Honestly, it can be annoying to have to grab my keys & walk out to my car just to make a phone call. But then again, I rarely make phone calls & it's never my intention, but I rarely answer my phone too (this drives my fam up the wall) except I always get back to them esp when they leave me a voicemail.

ADHD is one of the disorders in the DSM that the authors have totally confused folks with. People have no idea that there are three different "presentations" of ADHD, one being "inattentive" type without hyperactivity. Another is "combined" type, meaning both inattentive and hyperactive, yet these are all called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. So you can be diagnosed with ADHD without being hyperactive despite the word hyperactive being in the name. Confused? Don't blame ya one bit.
@siom3815
@siom3815 29 күн бұрын
Thank you for pointing that out! I didn’t realise that I had ADHD until I was in my mid 40s. I had always thought adhd presented as hyperactive, but that’s not how it presents for me. Apparently, it also typically presents differently in men and women, as a result many women aren’t diagnosed and get the help they need early on.
@jssmith1608
@jssmith1608 29 күн бұрын
@@siom3815 Yes, it would seem that girls/women typically have the inattentive type, and they fly under the radar because they aren't causing a disruption or having difficulty staying in their seat. They're just staring out the window ;)

This is the best ADHD video. I have seen the entire time. I’ve been on KZbin shorts. This is completely true. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I’m laughing so hard because this is how I am! I do not like labels, but I have every symptom of ADHD and I have been off medication for six months after being medicated for over 10 years and for the first two months it was pure hell I thought I was going to die, but I’m learning how to cope. I have learned to control my anxiety manage my emotions and stop my explosive outburst. I have became my own best friend, through my self into self-help neuroplastic techniques is what changed me! Along with building a connection to a higher power, different 12 step programs, helping others, building a solid foundation for support, Reaching out, the list continues. My pain in my trauma controlled me my entire life which led me down the road of addiction, and I have been clean for several years, but was very miserable until I came off my meds and started working on myself. Learning acceptance is really being a big part of my recovery… You can change! I know it doesn’t feel like it and I’m 32 years old just now figuring all of this out. I really hope this helps somebody. Our brains don’t control us…we control it❤

Love this video! There are many reasons why ADHD symptoms show up for so many people. As someone who has lived with ADHD all my life as well as being an ADHD therapist and a parent with ADHD children, I help people understand why we think, feel and behave the way we do. There is an answer! There are many more ways to treat ADHD other than being diagnosed and given medication. Other ways to help understand who you are and how to nurture those qualities. More importantly, there is nothing wrong with us! In fact no two people in the world are alike. We are all unique individuals and that is why my mission is to help people discover their unique gifts. Go discover your gifts!

I have ADHD and I sit for long periods of time just fine- in fact I have to actively decide not to sit too much because that's my go to when I get overwhelmed. I actually can only talk on the phone while sitting- it grounds me and helps me focus. I do have combined presentation, but my hyperactive-ness shows up more in restlessness while bored or doing something difficulty (fidgeting) and impulsivity. It can present differently for everyone. Also, there's also the inattentive presentation which doesn't include hyperactivity.

I didn’t know as a child. Figured it out as an adult. An odd thing I did was always sit up front. I mean so close to the teacher I had to crane my head to listen to them. I excelled in those classes. With assigned seating, especially alphabetical, I wound up in the back. Failed those classes. Years later I realized how easily distracted I can become. If I have to strain to listen or pay attention, my mind will wonder. Btw, my ADHD presents all in my head. I can sit still for hours, but my mind is racing thirty trillion miles an hour.

I used to study the embroidery of the tablecloth for most of the time I should have been doing homework, but just about managed as an average student at school because I was shy and a classroom setting can help you to apply yourself. I think you have to start as passively and simply as possible with him, but keep up a programme of it everyday. For example, I thought in my 30s I'd make cooking a hobby and first wrote notes on how to make sourdough bread. It was very dull and lacklustre to me, but gradually from that I started cooking more and more until my head was buzzing with ideas to ferment different kombuchas, vinegars.. wine.. Now cooking is a go to for me because it's one of the very few things I can stick to for an hour or more. If he just has to write down something everyday, knows the drill, knows the programme and you supervise him everyday on it he can probably grow from there. Writing also combines kinesthetic stimulation with thought, so after a week or two it's more likely to stick. But any unnecessary complications or tricky instructions can be very tiresome.
