I had a bottle of JDSBBP on my shelf for years. And it was... good, not great. I had the Coy Hill and it knocked my socks off, so I decided to buy another JDSBBP because I simply wasn't going to drain the one on my shelf. It's replacement MURDERED. Single Barrels are simply a mixed bag. For the last 3 years, I have been underwhelmed because of a mediocre barrel. BTW... I have had 3 Coy Hills and my first one to try was my bourbon of the year last year. The other two... close, but would not have finished in my Top 10. Single barrels are a double edged sword. The consistency of Rare Breed makes it a go-to. SW UCUF because of the micro-batch size can be hit or miss, but because it is batched, the hit rate is very high. I would like to see that because RB and SW UCUF are my two favorite non-LE bourbons.

Yeah, I was thinking, if Jack Daniels single barrel barrel proof doesn’t destroy Rare Breed, then I would seriously question if you actually have Rare Breed in the glass. I’ve never taken to Rare Breed. I actually prefer Wild Turkey 101 to Rare Breed. But JD SBBP is a stunning whisky. This matchup should’ve been a no contest bout from the beginning, much like Mike Tyson vs Trevor Berbick or Michael Spinks. TKO!

I love ‘em both, but the JD barrel proof is fantastic! Funny because I avoided both brands for a long time because of my 1980’s college bias and single malt snobbery. I love thé WT Rare Breed, Kentucky Spirit and Russell’s Reserve. And now I’m a JD fan in the form of the single barrel barrel proof, and to a lesser degree, the Bonded. Great videos! Have really enjoyed the VS series. With WTRB being more of a value bourbon would be cool to see something on the higher end that’s still relatively easy to get. Maybe Disco 7 or Calumet 16. Would be cool to see compared to something lower priced and also could it take down more hyped allocated bottles
