Saw and touched the evo sl today at the believe in the run shakeout run. I am super excited about this shoe. Foam felt great touching it, flexible without a plate, very light, great upper and the looks are Spot On! Perfect daily trainer, like a mix of peg 41 and turbo. AAP3 has been, to me, a consistent, reliable and efficient shoe. I have used my first pair (pinks) in races, XC, light trails, track workouts and it simply works and is pretty comfortable, too. Today i grabbed my second pair (blacks) for a hard workout on the track. A 8x1K with 45sec R @ 3:00-2:51min/km; starting at 3min/km first reps and moving gradually towards 2:50/51min/km. It felt phenomenal. So the idea of the pro 4 or the evo sl, even, for track workouts, is worth consideration given the brutal performance from the 3...

You keep saying "only" X grams lighter, but at a certain point it does matter, and certainly with your larger shoe size i think those weight savings are accentuated. I think both Adios Pro 4 and Evo SL are, on paper, slam dunk announcements from the brand. A lighter Adios Pro 3 with a better upper is to me an almost must-buy (pending durability) as those were my only complaints with AP3, and the Evo SL looks exactly like the trainer ive been wanting from adidas, and that weight is actually very competitive and depending on how cushioned it feels it could either be a competitor to the Rebel or Mach, or a much cheaper and lighter Superblast competitor. But to each their own!
@sneakerprofilerАй бұрын
The EVO SL has a Continental outsole at the mid-to-forefoot. The SL2 has adiWear throughout. I always go for 400km in my shoes. adiWear simply doesn’t hold up as well, and it never has done. The Adios9 is $140USD. The Boston12 is $160USD. That puts the EVO SL between them in price. I don’t know what any of that means, but I know I don’t want another pair of Adios8. I know adidas keeps tweaking and improving. ✌🏽💙👟
@sneakerprofilerАй бұрын
One more thing on the EVO SL. They got rid of the carrier foam, so a “dogbone” aka traditional torsion rod setup was added for stability. I don’t think I’ll be testing the two SL models for an on-feet comparison. But they’re quite different approaches to solve the same problem. ✌🏽💙👟

I’ll probably try the Pro 4 as Adidas has allegedly fixed the whole lace bite issue from v3. Also, the Lightstrike Pro is supposed to be more more in line with the responsiveness of the Pro Evo 1 (which I LOVE), and finally, the rocker of the Pro 4 is now moved back as per where the Pro Evo 1 rocker is. So I’ll definitely grab the Pro 4 as v3 just never worked for me after several tries.

Regular lightstrike 1 creases and dwarfs down in time… I guess LS 2.0 will too. Bit LS Pro doesn’t crease neither colapse over time. Collapsing means changing geometry too. I own a Boston 11, 10mm drop by specs, the heel is so down now it feels like a 4mm drop. Accommodating your feet and stride can be good. But all LSPro foam shoes are guaranteed not deformed.
@recguerra3Ай бұрын
All in all I really enjoy my B11 with low drop... it may be a Frankenstein marketwise, but to me it's very fun to use and frontfoot encouraging (I'm more midfoot striker, and heelstriker when exhausted). But in the other hand that's why I'm very interested at the Evo SL. And why it will be so different from SL2 - wich I believe will deform over time too. But it seems to me SL2 has less structure than B11, and since I mildly pronate, over time it may ruin the show. I'm definitely looking forward to Evo SL 🥰😍

While I agree with you when you 'don't buy into the hype' of always softer midsoles...wrt the adios Pro 4 it actually sounds like a complete rework. Apparently the top layer of (lightstrike pro) foam is essentially the Evo Pro foam. The carbon rods shape has also been brought across, obviously to match the rocker being earlier. The lower layer of Lightstrike Pro foam is claimed to be softer (woohoo-sarcastic!). A different outsole. A different upper that's supposedly softer, doesn't 'bite', and easy to lockdown. That sounds like a lot...my guess is it runs substantially differently than the previous models. "Better"? Who knows. All that said, I haven't run in any Adios Pro 1-3, but that lace bite takes some working out in some of the other Adizero shoes.

EVO SL for sure - have Pro 3s (4 PRs! 😮) so I’ll be hitting them when they drop. Heel spurs so need little or no heel cup - just gave away brand new Boston 12s as too stiff in heel. (Aye - there’s the rub). Haven’t even watched this episode yet Edd but I’m already excited ❤👍🏻

Pro 4 looks to address the lacing which I have a little problems with the 3's. It looks like the 4's foam is a little squishier than the 3's, and the rocker starts earlier in the shoe closer to the mid foot, thus I take it a faster shoe to move you through your stride, however they are still heavier than the Sky Paris. Would like to buy the 4's but I have done my PB's in the sky's (eclipsing the times I had in the pro 3's for my mid to longer distance runs) Not sure how forgiving they would be in a marathon later miles when form may become tired etc. Of which I'm doing two (maybe three next year). I can wait since the pro 4's don't come to the states til 2025, and sometimes they go on sale shortly after release (promos) but may just get a second pair of the sky's

Got to give credit to adidas in their marketing with the Pro 4 - send a boat load of influencers out to Berlin to run round in the Pro 4 and define "Coming Soon" not like next week but 1st Jan to actually buy them. Still I feel it is a shoe I will want to try and probably the Evo SL as well although maybe adidas are starting to confuse again so many shoes that all do similar ish things. The Turbo Shield I actually ran a full marathon in training in them and bizarrely it is the exact same weight as the Peg Plus. That's "progress" for you. Yeah NB1080 - I had the v10 but those max stack soft shoes are always a good 400g in my size and not sure they really make running easy really easy as a result.

The turbo shield and Pegasus plus the same weight?! That is funny. If lightstrike pro “new” is softer then why bother with the pro evo 1?
@TimGroseАй бұрын
@@EDDBUD yeah the actual Turbo 2 is about 55g ligher than the Plus for me so the "Shield" bit seems to even it out! That said am enjoying the Plus and it is certainly not "heavy". I do feel the Pro 4 is a bit like the Saucony one - it is now very much the 2nd best racing shoe from adidas but pitched to be more affordable and more to "normal" runners not elites or those who get lucky in the draw. As for softness - is soft faster/better - not a given but hard to say with any authority without having experienced them. All if I do know is that regular Lightstrike 2 is softer than the very dense initial version was and for the good there.

Reading some of these comments from butt hurt people bothered that Edd hasn’t gone all goo goo gah gah over the Evo SL and the Pro 4 has me a little vexed. So he’s not that excited at the prospect of dropping £220+ of his own money on the Pro 4? It’s his money and that’s his choice and it’s his opinion. He’s not dictating to anyone else how to spend their money ffs. We seem to be at a point over the last year where so many KZbin reviewers are getting so many freebies from brands from shoes to attending majors all expenses paid and we’re supposed to believe that this has zero impact on their reviews? Please. So many of these so called independent reviews are nothing more than glorified advertisements for those brands. I’m actually excited about the Pro 4 and the SL Evo, but I’m also fully aware that i probably won’t have the earth credits to justify buying both (like many people the cost of living means I’m on a budget ), and so I’m more likely to take notice of someone talking about these shoes who is also having to consider spending their own money on them simply because we don’t all work for Running Warehouse or have sub elite marathon times and therefore get all our stuff sent to us for free.

I do get some free shoes to test. But there are a number of brands including Nike, adidas, new balance and Hoka that send me nothing. Maybe you could say the big ones!
