Adidas Busenitz Vulc II Skate Shoes Wear Test Review | Tactics

This revamp of Busenitz's legendary vulc shoe retains the same classic silhouette, but is packed full of updated performance features. We got at a couple of Eugene OG's, Zach Bird and Drew Bieschke to skate them and tell us what they thought.
The outsole has been updated with the GeoFlex tread to give the shoe flexibility, and lasting grip in all directions. The abrasion-resistant one-piece upper is reinforced with an AdiTUFF underlay to extend the life of the shoe even after breaking through the upper. Inside the shoe is an AdiPRENE sock liner for comfort and impact absorption, and the collar has the beloved GeoFit® lining to make these extra comfy all day long.

I don’t expect to ever gain anything from shoe review vids but this one was great. Hearing honest feedback about the insole was kind of surprising, being that I don’t often hear even minor criticisms in review vids. Having two different skaters that don’t seem to have an interest in helping sell the shoe is nice to see. Holy shit that was a lot to say about a shoe review vid. Whatever. Hope to see more of these.

100% get another insole. If you jump down anything bigger than a 6, you'll get hell bruise. When I put better insoles in, this shoe is like the best, perfect toe cap, and so good for heelflips also

best shoes ive tried for skating... great board feel, grip, good durability and no break in time... the matchbreaks are very similar, but slightly thicker in every sense, considerably more durable and a bit more ankle support, with the feel of a vulc shoe. They are a good alternative for the busenitz vulc if you need something a bit sturdier, but still, the busenitz are better regarding board feel.

Can somebody please help me to know the diferrencies in feeling between the cupsole pro version of this shoe and the vulcanised II version. Like do the vulc shoe reduce the bulky feeling of the pro ones ?

Thanks man! We're gettin' by! Hope you're safe too! In my opinion, it would be a tie between the Busenitz Vulc 2 and the Figgy Dose. The Reynolds 3 G6 felt a little narrower to me. The Figgy's are cupsoles, so they'll skate a bit differently than the Busenitz Vulc 2. I hope that helps! - Tim

They should fit fine into these. You'll have to take out the AdiPrene insole but I don't think you'll have a problem getting the FP insole to work in there. 👍 - Tim

Yea if u no flip tricks theyll last a good 6+ months. They fit a lil small so i recommend going half a size bigger

I'm skating gazelles atm and they have zero support bruised my heel instantly. Also put a tear/hole in the first layer of suede on toe within a month. How are these? Seems very similar probs besides the insole?

These shoes are pretty dang durable. Under the suede is AdiTuff (rubber underlayer) so the shoe can still keep going even if you eventually wear through the suede. Also the toebox is one piece, so you're not going to blow out a seam. As far as impact goes, it's still a vulcanized shoe so you'll still feel the impact. But it feels like it has a decent amount of support. Aftermarket insoles also help a lot with impact protection, and you can keep swapping them into your new shoes , so it's a good investment. @@tacticsboardshop How do the soles hold up. Someone else was saying they wore through them in a month. I've been using Adidas Sambas. The sides hold up fine, but, the soles wear out pretty quick. I'm wondering if these would be any better. I'm guessing not as it looks like there is a lot of air space between the rubber tread.

I know im very late but im planning to cop these. Not so sure about the sizing though. I have wide feet, do you suggest I go half size up? Or true to size then break it in?

I'd say these are true to size. I also have wide feet and the toebox didn't feel super narrow. It was a little snug, but after one session, it stretched slightly and then it was perfect. 👍 - Tim

I just got these and it's weird I've had the exact opposite experience. They don't bend at all and it hurts my feet. Been trying to break them in for a few weeks while I finish off my pair of new balance.

Dang, that's crazy. But have been a bad batch of rubber. If you can ever find the first Gen businetz vulc, pick them up. The sole is different(almost like a Nizza slip-on) and it's like they are already broken in brand new. It's super nice.

The Busenitz Pro shoes are Cupsoles, and these are Vulcanized soles. So the Pro version will be much thicker and stiffer on the bottom but will have more support for impact and the outsole will be a little more durable. These Vulc 2 shoes will be thinner with more boardfeel, but the impact support will be less and the foxing tape is softer than the Cup rubber, so it might wear out a bit faster than the Pros if you do lots of flip tricks. Both of the weartesters prefer the vulc version, although both of them prefer vulcanized shoes in general. The OG Busenitz Pro is a cupsole and is a very different shoe as far as how it feels and skates. Both are amazing shoes though! - Tim

@@eliotbuatois8188 The OG Busenitz is definitely very thick in the heel and takes a while to break in, where as the vulcanized version breaks in much quicker and will give you significantly more boardfeel off the bat. That's not to say the OG's wont have good boardfeel eventually, you'll just have to earn it. The outsole on the OG will last longer than the vulc version because it's a different non-baked rubber compound. The upper is pretty much the same on both, so the suede should wear at about the same rate. Although the foxing tape might wear down quicker than the rubber cup on the OGs. Also the OG version will have a lot more impact support for gaps and rails and whatnot. It just depends on what you're looking for out of a shoe. Are you saying you do a lot of kickflips, or that you don't do kickflips? If you're not doing a bunch of flip tricks then these shoes will last a very long time. If you ARE doing a ton of kickflips, then I feel like they will still last a good amount of time because the suede is durable and even after wearing through it, there's the AdiTuff layer underneath to keep the shoe going even longer. So either way this shoe is a good investment. I hope that answered your question! - Tim

I mean i had these and i made a hole into the sole in about a month. If they keep their shoe 97% new after 3 weeks, as it looked in the video (almost untouched, i know it's transition but still.. the sole gets fucked anyway) it's a miracle. I love the shoe but the durability is not correct in this video i feel like.

That's what I was wondering about. I've been skating Adidas Sambas. Although technically, they are not designed for skating and are soccer shoes, the sides hold up fine. The problem is like you mentioned, the sole wear out. IMHO, they need to have less air spaces in them and more rubber. I think the shoe company may do that intentionally so they can sell more shoes.
