The adidas (Terrex) Speed SG is also a good Trail shoe for rough Rocky trails. There on wet Rocks the adidas is unbeatable. I have the Higher State Soil Shaker 2 (beyond two Models from "More Mile", which usual better rated than the Soil Shaker) Firm cushioning, comparable to the adidas Speed SG regarding Firm cushioning. The behaviour of the Soil Shaker on wet Rocks is very different to the adidas Speed SG. Somekind of brickwall-effect. Means First it holds Up to a threshold and then it Slips without Warning. adidas is always designing towards slicing into the ground and Controlled hold on wet surfaces. That depends on Rubber/Compound and lug pattern. I train with the Soil Shaker on muddy ground to Firm ground, while avoiding wet Rocks and roots. But my "Life ensurance" at alpine terrain incl. muddy Terrain there and Not only Steep, Rocky incl. even alpine gravel is adidas with adidas-traxion thru adidas-Continetal Up to adidas/Five.Ten Stealth or Phantom. The adidas Speed SG has a adidas-Continetal outsole. The adidas Terrex Skychaser 1st Gen known to hold even on wet roots and wet wooden Bridges. If you know how to avoid the Heel Slip at this shoe and some Others with the rigid EVA-frame this shoe is offering a wide spectrum...of fun. adidas shoes like the Speed SG and the Skychaser you can wear on Via Ferrata and even with snow and ice on alpine trails in Steep Rock sections. Others better Not...

Another great alternative: La Sportiva Cyklon. That shoe has a fit which is sublime! Combined with massive grip and groundfeel.

Evo Jawz and Xtalons are my favourites. Never tried Adidas trail options, looks good though. May give it a punt when on offer. Thanks for the review, good to see some propert trail reviews rather than carbon super shoes.

Left this feeling the Higher State shoes might be a good pair for thrashing about in on the wet trails, a cheap pair to get me through the winter.

They’re def a great cheap option

Really enjoying my pair! The preformed really well today on Orion15. Found that they gripped well and were more forgiving on the hard ground than my old talon 210. I had use them couple times this season for XC before today but the courses where flat and found relatively dry and couldn’t really gauge how they going to preform.

Congrats on doing the 15! I’ve actually only run the course in training myself, need to do the event proper!

Nick, I live in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and I find this type e of shoe great for training on 14ers. There's always steep, chossy sections that require good lugs. I've used the Saucony Peregrine ST in the past but it's heavy. I'll look for this one thanks!

Nice one, that sounds like some very cool running! Very keen to get out to Colorado one day

@@TheRunTesters do it! Running 14ers out here is a very rewarding experience...and humbling.

If the rain continues, I’m contemplating these for the Beachy Head Marathon. Would you feel this is too long and destroy my legs?

Do you think this shoe could be good for a fast 50k? Like an alternative to the old s lab sense shoes?
@kierenkd3 жыл бұрын
It would be good to see the £140 compare to the £89 (Decathlon) Evadict Race-Lite. They look similar, with on paper maybe an edge to the cheaper shoe? Good to see what the extra £50 gets you. Kudos for the soilshaker option.

Looks a good shoe! Maybe lugs bit short for full mud, but will try and get it in to test

Would these be good parkrun shoes for this time of year - part gravel / part mud course? Or anything better for that scenario?
@TheRunTesters3 жыл бұрын
They’d work I think. It probably depends on the balance of mud and other terrain as to whether you need so much grip I guess! The Evo Jawz would be very good for it too

I am currently trying to decide between this shoe and the x-talon 210. The x-talon (in the shop) feels very snug around the side of my toes and the adidas feels a bit more roomy in the toe box. Not sure whether to go for very snug or a bit more spacious. Any thoughts on this as you have had both? Did the x-talon stretch a little as you wore it in?

Isn't the number on the side more like the type number? Cause my freehikers have written 400 something and they only weigh 250 ..

Nikes are made for dry fire-trails. They have hard outsoles which are as slippery as dress-shoe leather in the wet. A total liability for damp rock or tree routes. In the dry they are good and also very good road-to-trail. The outsole is borderline dangerous in my opinion for UK running. Definitely no sky running
@FobusHolsters3 жыл бұрын
@@kierenkd thank you for your detailed reply. I am leaving in Israel so it will suits my needs perfectly.

@@FobusHolsters Oh good - you are weclome. I have to run a bit of road before I get to trail, so good for that. The hard outsole will last. I'm in the UK, so some coastal paths have damp rocks and that is really slippy. The colours are always pretty cool on Nikes. Enjoy.
