As I've been living in Germany for the past 12 years, I can confirm that yes, they can be that petty. It's like a matter of pride they won't talk about. Even so, they must have had a prior conflict that involved multiple parties for it to escalate so terribly. In the end they're brothers so something more than rivalry was the straw that broke the camels back.

I think splitting up was needed, because If they were still merged it could be dysfunctional for the company.

I always thought the Puma shoe was a much cleaner design so that's what I went with. As for Nike...just no. Worst shoes I've ever owned.

I've owned several Pumas and some Adidas. Never wore Nike because I just thought they looked cheap for the price you pay.

I personally prefer Adidas, Nikes are not the worst but adidas is more diverse in the clothing and shoes market

Dude, you should do a rise and fall of Airwalk. How that company got so big so fast and then burned out just as quick is an amazing story that's basically been ignored. They were third largest sneaker company behind Nike and Adidas in the mid 1990s!!!

Interesting & sad at the same time. In high school our girl’s basketball team all had to wear Puma when we played games. Not really sure why. I liked them, but most likely because I liked the cat reference of the name. I was already a crazy cat lady even back then. 🤣 But it also seemed like Puma was the affordable brand of the two & Adidas was the “showy” brand. 🤷🏻♀️ I didn’t last long in basketball so it never really mattered to me.

Great video! Such a neat story behind both companies and brothers. My gut tells me this rivalry built up over years. Possibly with outside influences telling each brother something like "your brother is nothing without you, you deserve more credit" ect. Could have even been that way since they were kids. Or could be a situation of the parents only allowed them to use the space if they worked together.

I'm an adidas man through and through, starting with the Copa's in the early 90s. I had the World Cup screw-ins where you would get that little wrench to change studs, the Kangaroo Copas, the Australian and Brazilian Copas, and dozens of casual/running shoes. Actually, 8 need a new pair of shoes. MY ADIDAS....

That's because you earn your own money. It appears that most of the "brand loyal" people commenting here are kids who live with mummy and daddy and don't have to pay for their own stuff.

@@Dave_Sisson I'm a package courier who works 10 hours a day on my feet. Same thing with cars you know I'm not loyal to a brand I'll just buy whatever I can afford I don't want to have a car payment either. And with shoes I can get by with a $40 shoe from Walmart and a $20 Dr Scholl insert and they'll just be as comfortable as any $200 $300 plus shoe Which reminds me I got to get some shoes. My current sketcher boots have no soles and filled with holes lol

Interesting feud, but I'll stick to my Nikes. I've worn either Adidas or Puma for most of my childhood and I've found both to be kinda prone to tears and sole cracks. But if I had to pick one, Pumas always felt like better value and had cooler designs, plus they make really great driving shoes and motorsports merch, so they'd be my go-to.
