In our Big Bull series, we've had traders from various backgrounds such as doctors, businessmen, PhD students, and more. However, today's guest on our stock market podcast is a trader with an IITian background, who not only engages in trading but also imparts knowledge to IIT students.
Meet Vivek Kumar, who is part of Episode 58 of our Big Bull series. He is from Patna, Bihar, and has experience in both cryptocurrency and the stock market. In this stock market podcast, we will explore his journey in the stock market and learn a lot from his experiences.
Initially, Vivek Kumar lived in Fiji for three years, where he had a very good job. He decided to resign from his job and use his savings to open an institute in Patna in November 2019. At that time, his family did not support the idea of opening the institute.
But as soon as Vivek Kumar started the institute, a lockdown was imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, all the money he had invested in the institute was lost.
During the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, he experienced significant distress, but later, in the second phase, he began practising meditation to bring about self-improvement. After exploring content on KZbin, he discovered that one could generate income through trading, especially since he was without a job and their coaching center had closed down.
Vivek Kumar says that he left a job in Fiji that paid 1.5 Lakhs and take up a job that paid ₹30,000. He taught through Unacademy for 2 years, where he started with a monthly salary of ₹30,000.
He opened his first Demat account in 2017 while working in Fiji, where his trading journey began with Equity. When he started learning trading from KZbin, he considered himself lucky to have started with option selling because he didn't understand option buying.
Vivek Kumar says that he learned the option selling very well from KZbin videos in 2-3 months. For 2 years, he made notes of his trades every day, jotting down every detail. On Sundays, he would sit down and review his notes.
He suggests creating a trading journal, reading it, and revising it regularly because that's how he also cleared the IIT exam. He made a daily trading journal to keep track of when and how he incurred losses and why they happened.
