It also seems that they're reassuring themselves that Adine is alright. They seem concerned that she has an injury and they need to know she's ok. They also seem to be comforting Adine as well. I think this is remarkable and shows the emotional intelligence elephants have. This channel is a revelation for me , to see the elephants and their carers daily interactions and how they live their lives is amazing.

I pray one day Bubi will have something click in her head that she can trust you and that you love her. I feel so bad for her because she was so traumatized with what ever happened to her when she was orphaned that she still can't trust 100%. So much love and concern for Adine! And Klaserie checked to make sure she had no other injuries! 💓 I think they tried to coat Adine's injury with a bit of dirt to help her. God bless them. Adine's going to have to resign herself to having a dirty leg until she's all healed up lol. I have a soft spot for Bubi, with her timid nature, sweet face, & beautiful long eyelashes. Finding out that when she was young she had to see her mommy being killed by evil men makes my heart melt for her even more. Every HERD video shows how much the elephants need touch because they gently touch each other constantly. I wish every elephant in the world could have a herd. It's so smart to rotate carers so the ellies don't get upset if one has to be away for a while. Your videos always make the day better! Thank you!

I truly adore your herd of Ellies that have formed a unique family of love and protection that came from heartbreak and pain. I have come to love each and every one of them. To see them so concerned for their human allomother brings tears to my heart. I can never accept that this herd would ever be split apart for release as they have all bonded together. Even from my screen I can see, hear and feel them as if I were there. Not even one of them should be parted. Fishan's bravery and will to live and his quiet love for Bubi. The babies protected by all & the interactions all the ellies display together just glues them together forever. None of them should ever have to experience heartbreak again. They love you Adine and their devoted carers beyond limits. They put shame to us humans. Well done to your team family and all who give love and care unconditionally. Bless you all. My cat also knows when I. Injured and comes to check me out. He (Shadow the cat) also seems to sense when I'm upset or in pain. He often will want to sit on me and rub his head on mine when I'm not feeling well. I am diagnosed with a number of health challenges such as Fibromyalgia (chronic pain), chronic fatigue syndrome and bipolar spectrum disorder (what was once called manic depression). I've named 3 but I have a list. Shadow seems to know almost as soon as my pain flares or when I'm a bit down. He will sit on my chest and purr away for a while. If the Herd can sense immediately an injury, can you imagine the trauma Bubi witnessed and went through. You could see that she wanted to ensure that Adine was ok, but held back from checking. Instead Bubi opted to stay near not moving from Adine's side. Poor dear Bubi the unforgettable memories etched in her head. She was very concerned. But if I may say, the elephants were quite concerned about their sweet, loving and very caring human mom Adine which I thought was so sweet. I also feel that they only were caring for her because she has cared for them in all the years they have been under her care and her raising most of them too.🥰❤️🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘 This is absolute unconditional love and compassion for each other. Human and animals.❤️🥰 What I also absolutely loved was, not only were the elephants concerned but, they did almost go into a fit like I think it was Kumbura or Bubi that was so unsettled but didn’t go so crazy that sh could have gone into an absolute fit but she was able to calm down with the reassurance from Adine and the Carer too. That is definitely total control on the elephants part and the love and relationship that that elephant has for Adine and the Carer. Timisa was beside herself that something was wrong. Klaserie is certainly the Doctor giving a good once over. It's amazing how sensitive they are. I remember a while back when Adine's daughter had an injection (or had blood taken, I don't remember exactly) and the elephants reacted to her arm. And the way they sometimes touch/sniff Khanyisa's scar.

Adine, elephants know energy of course. They are using technique of assessing injury and removing associated pain and discomfort. Maybe you could feel this. You even had an SI joint and thoracic spine assessment! Better than most human doctors can do! The Herd up close never ceases to amaze.

Although she would’ve been taken from her mother at a young age and hand-raised, thereafter, she’s still a wild animal. I think the little one's put their trunk in their mouth when they're uncertain/unsure about something - I noticed Sunshine do it right before she called out when she thought Mambo had left her alone. The only time I've seen older ellie's do it would have been in a moment of uncertainty. Its so cool that they show concern 4 Adine's injury - Timi seemed like she wanted 2 check but didn't want 2 cause more hurt 2 Adine's knee. - she's such a sweet sensitive girl. That is remarkable. Klasserie was seriously cupping the injury with her trunk. And poor Timissa seemed afraid/upset. As a young child would be when an allomother gets hurt. Even Bubi wanted to make sure you were ok, even though she still doesn't trust humans. She seemed very upset that you were hurt. And the other elephant putting their trunk in her mouth to help her, I assume. I know your ultimate goal is to return them to the wild, and I believe I saw it mentioned that you would have to sever the bond you have with them, but I wonder if that is even possible or even desirable. They love you.

Klaserie seems to be fascinated by the difference in feel and texture between the skin on your knee and your clothing. She moved her trunk back and forth between the two continually. Thank you for these fascinating, well-made videos showing the love between the staff and the elephants.

I believe that what kept Bubi from. Aldine was Tigere. Then Tokwe sensing the slight tension in Adine & Tigere voices came over & put herself in the middle of Adine & Bubi. I understand perfectly the caution that Adine and Tigere feel for Bubi, but iwould have loved to see Bubi allowed to get closer to Adine. I myself as a tourist would be extremely aware of all the elephants, and particularly of limpopo (who can be in her curiosity and dominance aggressive), I think Bubi if allowed would have inspected Adine leg like the others. She was very aware of Tigere coming up in front and beside Adine and realized of all the ellies so far she was not going to get to be allowed near Adine. When they feel the babies are threatened, all of them have shown wild and aggressive behavior. Tigereand the carers are very protective of Adine as well as the elephants. Trauma is, when it occurs, is always in one's life. You learn to cope with it and keep it from controlling you. Bubi was definitely traumatized, and deserves the extremely tender attention she receives from Adine. If allowed and with supervision by like Tokwe or a carer , I hope she is allowed to be nearer to Adine. Bubi is well aware she is looked at the way she is, and it reinforces her trauma. She is blacklisted in a subtle sense,,and she is very aware of this.

Elephants are so amazing!!! We as humans have much that we could learn from them. My love for Elephants began many years ago when I for the first time heard the story of Lawrence Anthony - The Elephant Whisperer. It was about his passing. Two herds of elephants that he had rescued and protected traveled for 12 hours to his compound (I believe in Thula Thula) to mourn his death. He had died of a heart attack. They hung out at his compound for two days. How did they know he had died?? I have since read that they travel there at the same time every year. Google it. It’s such a touching story. The elephants that he first became involved with and protected had experienced and witnessed horrible things at the hands of humans and were understandably very wary and dangerous for humans. Lawrence Anthony won them over through love and patience. That was when I came to realize just how intelligent and compassionate and sensitive elephants are.

I admit I have gone back and rewatched this everyday, multiple times, for the last 2 weeks. It makes me teary eyed every time, for so many reasons. I know it must be exhausting work, but I envy you spending your days as ”part of the herd” with these exquisite animals.
