When I was a child in the 1970's and we watched wildlife documentaries, they would depict Elephants as big, aggressive, and dangerous. Adine has brought us these wonderful youtube videos demonstrating that Elephants are actually very social, very family orientated, and can be very gentle, when you gain their trust after EARNING their trust.

Wow! I'm blown away by the absolute beauty and fashion in which the herd holler, trumpet, shout, honk, warble, purr, grunt, blow horns and literally dance with joy at the arrival of sweet Khanyisa! Isn't it amazing how they recognize the elephants and knows she is an elephant too? As a baby, even a non human animal will be focused on one thing, the protection, safety, warmth, and nourishment from one care giver. She is still so young to have begun to understand she is a specific type of being. An elephant. To just run right up to them is awesome. I funny know how I missed this before, but I'm glad I found it. My education revolves around psychology of behavior, and is centering on animals for some reason. I just gravitated towards that. I've begun branching out from primates. I believe I'm going to learn from the elephants too now. My mother loved elephants beyond reason. Birds and elephants were her thing. She'd love this if she were still with us.

No history needs to be taught and the evils that was dome to show how pgreed, or thinking your better than another group of people because of skin color and all the evil things that was done to hold a community back. So then it can be acknowledged and fix. Oh my goodness this is almost 20 minutes of pure emotion from the moment Khanyisa met the herd they accepted her without hesitation their ability to open their hearts to those who have gone through struggles and loss like they have is one of MANY things that make this family so special. My two favorite videos are the ones of Kumbura just absolutely terrified and beside herself trying to get Khanyisa and Timmi away from the water, and when Khanyisa was on one of the first walks, and she accidentally slipped and fell in the soft sand and got immediate attention from the herd, and then she proceeded to “slip” on purpose several more times. 😂. I also loved the video of Jabulani visiting her at the fence.

Its so incredible how the elephants are all so involved in the care and safety of orphaned babies and one another, They all work so well as a collective team, - What I find most amazing is how they are all rescued strangers, , yet they they all tend to A D A P T to sanctuary life , and to each others needs , - indeed suckling is most soothing and comforting to the babies, You folks do a wonderful job of helping caring and loving your elephants - love that cute baby,.
