Sir, we started with analytic equations and chose minima and maxima to arrive at minimum values of x and y. What research led to the formulation of connectivity matrix and Bx and By, to derive the final matrix equations for a placement problem?

Hi, sorry for the delayed reply (been very busy lately :) If I understand your question correctly, then please refer to @14:00 in the video to see the "recipe" for calculating the b vectors. The b vectors give representation to the pads (I/Os), showing the connectivity between the gates and the immovable pads (which basically pulls the gates towards the pads they are connected to). So for every gate that connects to a pad, we have bx(i)=wi*xi and by(i)=wi*yi, where w is the net weight and (xi,yi) are the coordinates of the pad.
