Nice job, Mr. Turner, for the presentation. No jump cuts needed. Either you've practiced the presentation really well, or you're just a natural at talking to people. :D

FYI... sprinklers would never go off because of fog or haze machines. Sprinkler heads only release water when the heads themselves reach a certain temperature. You might get the fire department at your event but you don’t have to worry about water unless there is an actual fire. One thing all lighting installers should remember is not to ever put a lighting fixture under a sprinkler. Even without a fire the temperature could set-off a sprinkler. I’ve seen it happen with a par-can too close to a sprinkler head. Also sprinkler heads only go off one at a time as the heat reaches them. Not all at once like in the movies.

Unless you are dealing with a deluge system. In which case smoke/theatrical fog can trip the smoke detectors which in turn activate the deluge valve making everything wet. Deluge systems, depending on the configuration, can be triggered by smoke instead of heat, and they do flood the whole area since the sprinkler heads are not plugged with a heat sensitive glass bulb.

@@Magicguy31 Absolutely correct. I know of at least one apartment building that has the sprinklers manually activated. But yes the majority are heat sensitive.

I have the Entourage I love it honestly I plug it in set it at 5% fan and 5% fluid and forget it. It’s perfect for what I wanted. A bit pricey tho I got mine for $900

My local smoke machine/Fazer/Hazer dealer says that Fazer and Hazer's is the same thing. And that oil have been illegal for many years, and that today glycol and distilled water is what's used in Hazers. From what picked up from my own readings is that fazers use an heater to make smaller "smoke" particles that hangs longer then traditional smoke machines. And that hazers use an compressor to get even smaller "smoke" particles. But the local dealer says they all use heaters and and fan/compressors... So Im a bit lost in what to get.

I have an Antari Z350. I use Haze fluid and it's just dynamite. My question is, Can I transport it in other positions than upright (on it's side, back)? In a truck pack, it's a pain. Can it be stored on it's side?

I think he gives a lot of good information but glosses over some of the basics: Lights by themselves will not show any beam between the source light and what they are shining onto. Haze allows the beams to be visible all the way from source to target. This also allows light washes to illuminate the air so that a color wash will turn the whole stage area red instead go just the floor. Thats the basic advantage. It allows your lighting to look a lot more vivid, and professional in a lot of cases.

I am a twitch streamer that wants to do dancing under laser light show in my room with all my equipment. Will the haze machine damage my equpiment or will I be able to do this? I plan to put a laser light projector on the ceiling and point it down and I want to dance under the laser beams and have them show up in stream but I want to know if I can do this without worrying about damage my PC, cameras, mics, dslrs etc...

Hi adjlighting thanks for this wonderful video. I'm looking into buying a haze machine for (indoor photography) purposes. From everything that I have read and watched, oil based fluid produces the best results to enhance the moving head beams and lights that I use, BUT, there is the thing about oil residue issue. I have NEVER ever used a haze machine so I don't know if an oil base hazer will produce bad results. Someone told me that it might mess up my camera and lens? Is that true? The indoor rooms I usually photograph in are from 1000 sqf to 6000 the largest room. These facilities are rented for one day five hours maximum and a lot of the smaller studios have mirrors on an entire wall. Having said that, someone else also told me that today's newer Water Base haze machines are just as good as the oil ones. Is that true? And the end result is this, will I be happy with a water base haze machine, I guess they are called FAZE machines. I will really appreciate anyone's input on this because although I do want the optimal results to enhance the light beams now I'm REALLY scared in buying an oil base haze machine. I've been shopping around a lot and oil based machines are still being used, and they are high end ones mostly so at this point I'm really confused.

Water based hazers can be very effective when used correctly but can still be more difficult to get a good even balance of coverage than the cracked oil options. Arguably because of this they are more distracting also. There are so many variables at play in terms of atmospherics that often oil based haze forms the steady backdrop of coverage as it's an easier set and forget method. (Think of it as bare minimum coverage in most med/large cases) A lot of the time with water based fog the fluid really is the determinate factor. Whether it be a fog, faze or pro haze machine. There are fluids to suit all types of density and hang time now. The so called "designer fog" type fluids can be very effective in a regular fog machine giving a fine, even, fairly long lasting effect and there are many different haze fluids that perform similarly. The thing with the residue and oil it's no more than greasy hand marks I'd say. (Working in a 500 seat theatre the lights optics got cleaned maybe twice a year and that was with a cracker, smoke machines and pyro etc..) so you shouldn't have to worry about that much, unless you're filling a tiny room to saturation regularly!! Oil is a more expensive outlay but more economical to run. Oil is a much quieter effect that water based but is a lot slower and more subtle. Oil is a 1 trick pony essentially* (excluding kerosene fog and outdoor film generators) whereas you can have a lot more control and deployment options with water based. Hope some of that helped, it's all about the desired effect you have in mind.

I could be wrong but I don't think your Haze/Faze machines are capable of setting off virtually all sprinklers. Not really. If it was a system that could, I'd be comfortable thinking I would know long before I set them off. Definitely, the alarm goes off, maybe charge the waterlines going to a sprinkler, even get an embarrassing visit from the FD, but it won't turn activate the sprinklers in modern buildings. I've been in the fire service for a long time (I've actually been on both sides of the scenario). I was kinda hoping he'd talk about some kind of rule of thumb about how much you can put in a typical high school gym before the alarm goes off.

@adjlighting how do you feel the Entour Pro, stacks up against other oil based machines, like the DF50? and Antari HZ500/1000? is it cabable of filling larger venues?

These are company guys. They have a team and a DRIVE to be biased. I'd love to figure out the answer to your question. The video did let me know that for outdoor --- oil based hazer only.

will a fazer haze last the same as a hazer? or does it have to be triggered more frequently? I'm assuming water based liquid will evaporate faster. I'm in the market to get a small one for filmmaking.

Can you use haze juice in a fog machine and get the same effect as a hazer?

No. The oil based haze liquid will burn when it hits the heating element. The way the effect is generated is also very different.
