Adjustable Motorcycle Handlebars - SV650 stock upgrade

I have bought a pair of those on AliExpress for £21.00, I intend installing them on my H-D XL883N. I've also bought matt black carbon fibre tube to sleeve up the bars from 22mm to 25mm as Harley's have 1" diameter handlebars as stock fitment. I have replaced all the chromed cap head screws and washers with black stainless steel replacements. I think the adjustable bars look cool.

With conventional bar mounting like this I dont think I would bother with this setup and instead just visit an SV650 riders group to find part numbers for traditional bars with the correct bend...or even sit on bikes in the showroom find what you like and order THOSE identical bars! Like the bars on my Tracer 9gt so those could be transplanted to an SV...OR hey! The stock VStrom bars! duhh

For myself, I need an upright riding position, my neck is hurt. How is the riding position with your set up, compare to the stock handlebar please ? And all your wires were long enough to fit the new upper height handlebar ? Thank you !

The way I ended up using them, they weren't any further away, so the cables were ok. I did have one pinching routing issue on the throttle side, but I was able to fix that.

How Solid did they feel? That many parts & different mounting points.... makes me quite weary as this video is the only one I could find in English!

Yeah Tombs, I was thinking the same, but they are very solid surprisingly! A tiny tiny amount of flex but basically negligible. I'm also going to locktite most of the bolts once I get a setup I settle on for extra security. 😂

Notice with 4 wheeled vehicles the premium models for many years now have had Tilt and/or telescopic steering wheels. It amazes me there are not models of motorcycles with fully adjustable bar position right off the showroom floor, I dont even think it needs to be awfully elaborate or heavy and it would certainly be fine if it took 5 minutes and an allen key etc...does not to be adjustable on the fly just adjustable You know what a clip on style bar might be the lightest way to go but on wrist killing sports bikes they generally leave zero fork tube ABOVE the upper triple tree top which is such a shame in my opinion because IF they did then it would be easy to pop on some new high bars with adjustable sweep angle at least and then it would also be simple enough to provide adjustment to the other axis also...all the manufacturers need do is leave enough damn cable length to adjust the bars ....which often they do NOT making it a nighmare involving custom brake lines etc....really a pisser

Yeah, extra cable length and a basic adjustment would be a great idea. Not many have huge factory aftermarket’s anyway when it comes to bars, so yeah, maybe an email to the manufacturers? 😂

Just go to a good bike shop. Strip the front, trial fit a few bars. Find one with a geometry that suits. About a million different fixed bars out there. Just as there are heaps of different clip on bars.

@@VroomBroomZoom OCD. Plus I'm a huge broom broom guy. Keep it clean, keep it mean. Currently, Jeep SRT, Alfa GTA, V4 CTX1300, V4 VFR1200F. My VRF came with riser bars(non OEM). Can buy non OEM low profile clip ons for $50. Cheap and clean. Just waiting for a call from bike shop for fitting costs.

That seems way more complicated and time consuming, when you can get these for like $50 and throw them on, adjust, tighten, done.. work smart not hard mate.

@@MrValy128 But very heavy compared to a nice set of aluminum prebents and really the work has already been done just sit on stock bikes the OEMs are great on bikes like VStrom (which is the identical basic platform frame/motor as SV)...Suzuki was just trying to make the SV more sportbike like..I would not bother with the adjustables personally but hey to eash his/her own whatever

Well. You need a bike Shop to begin with and they have handlebars that fit and a mechanic to fit and size up and all the rest. Usually its 2 weeks to book a time at the mechanic and you are paying for 2 hours of work. So this is very good alternative to all that.😊

I've checked: about half a pound more. 250 grams more than the original part. More or less. One could spare something by replacing with ergal bolts but it would cost more than the entire handlebar...
