I was having some problems getting my car to idle and it stalling when coming to a stop and this fixed it. Thank you very much.

Nice video. I'm glad you mention at 3:41 about vacuum leaks and co2 mixture with a dwell meter (or multi meter for DPR). Of course there are a handful of other issues that could cause poor idle but this is a good video for showing the air bypass at the throttle body. At 7:32, that rubber seal, rather than buying a multi seal kit at Harbor Freight, the Danco #47 O ring at 11/32" od dia. x 7/32" id dia. x 1/16" is a perfect fit. At 9:21 glad you explain the proper adjustment for the butterfly valve.

Would this apply for a 1986 Volkswagen Jetta MK2, bought it last year as a project car and I've seen to hit a wall and can't proceed any further. I'm learning as I go.

Hi my question is does the nail have to go completely in or half way in because I've been moving it and the car shut down and I haven't been able to turn it back on. Do you have any advice?

So from my experience - if that brass adjustment screw isn't sticking out then you DO adjust the idle with the screw and the keeper nut. My throttle body had the air bypass sealed off and that adjustment screw channel was sealed off as well.

The idle adjustment screw is the other screw on the throttle body.

I decreased mine all the way down and my motor still idles high. What could be the issue?

The o ring seal on that screw itself is bad replace it

Anyone know where you can buy an idle switch? Someone removed it from my 1989 cabriolet for whatever reason and it idles like a bag of shit, I've gone all over the vacuum lines. There's also some little small diaphragms in some of the vacuum lines and I don't know where to buy replacements for those, but it runs like a top anything past 600 RPM. Is there a similar replacement throttle body that will bolt up? That's better. It looks like you said you got one from a scirocco. Any source or any links would be great cuz I've searched a lot of the VW part sites and can't find any any or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.

nice explanation. just curious, why would i want to raise or lower my idle on my mk2 86 8v cis e? i have the screw all the way in, and ive driven it with it opened a bit and im not sure how i liked it, the screw all the way in is how my car ran the best all of the time, why would some one want to change this besides modifying the engine?
@ShinyFastLoud Жыл бұрын
It is just one of the adjustments that contributes to betting the idle at the factory recommended rpm. You typically wouldn't want a higher idle just for the sake of a higher idle.

Hi ,i installed a neuspeed throttle body with out the neuspeed adapter plate (i don’t have it) and the engine keep’s in high idle about 1500/1800 rpms ,i adjusted the idle screw to full thight and i can’t lower the idle , is that because the lack of adapter plate? Regards
@ShinyFastLoud3 жыл бұрын
I don't think the lack of the plate would cause the high idle issue.

What should idle rpm speed be for a cabriolet I can’t find any answers
@ShinyFastLoud9 ай бұрын
Just under 900rpm for K-Jet......think Digifant is 800 +/- 50 rpm.

@@ShinyFastLoudcould the fuel mixture solve the issue of flooding when dropping to correct idle cause mine runs at 1000 then once it drops to 900 it dies out and smells of gas and won’t start again till I let the car sit
@E_ina_G9 ай бұрын
@@ShinyFastLoudI’m pretty sure I have no vac leaks I have fuel spark and air and it’ll run to operating temp high idle but when it goes down it dies and I replaced my fuel pump recently and re wired it since it was finicky and figured this may solve my issue I’m currently waiting on a dwell meter to adjust the fuel mixture when it comes in but figured I’d ask someone familiar with the car

Will this adjustment work on a 1993 vw cabriolet digifant fuel injected engines. Also what the size of the o ring you got from Harbor freight. Thanks
@ShinyFastLoud2 жыл бұрын
I don't remember the specific size but I just bought an assortment for less than $5. www.harborfreight.com/225-piece-metric-nitrile-o-ring-assortment-67609.html
