My husband and I did 4 years long distance when he was serving! We only saw each other once every 7-10 months. It sucked but we both kept busy and it honestly made us stronger and miss each other more. We definietly never took our time together for granted and still don't. I just swore in the Air Force and waiting to leave for BMT. We're super confident that we can get through this now ! You will both be okay

It’s crazy how you are stationed at the Pentagon! I live 35 minutes from DC! Welcome to the DMV! It’s definitely very diverse and has a lot to offer. Praying that things will be less stressful for you, it’s all about adjusting! You got this boo❤️😇

My ex bf was in the navy & got deployed to Japan for about a year. I was a college student at the time, and let me tell you that it wasn’t easy. At first, it will be hard, especially the first few days or week. I would constantly remind myself that it’s going to be a temporary thing. How did I handle it? Well, college kept me busy, but I tried to stay positive and would find the time to communicate with him despite the different time zones. Communication is the 🔑. Stay positive and do what makes you comfortable/happy. I hope everything goes well❤️

My husband has deployed twice in the last six years, and gone to many many TDYs. But finding a solo routine has always helped me, and really connecting with friends. And attending college :)

My husband and I haven't dealt with deployment yet, but we were together through his enlistment and entry training and mine (about 5 years apart), so we've done military-related long distance twice now. It definitely helps being with someone who understands how the military works and how communication isn't always great - just something I noticed with girls in my flight who had civilian husbands/boyfriends. It may sound cheesy, but one thing that helped my husband and I was to schedule our Skype/Zoom calls. We had regular times when we would video chat each other about 2-3 times a week, unless our schedules changed. It ensured that we made time to sit down and talk to each other, and it gave us each something to look forward to! Depending on your boyfriend's AFSC and where he's deploying to, I know that might not be as easy to plan, but even having a designated day (like Sunday being phone call/FaceTime day) might help. :)

Omg we’re actually in the same area!!! And crazy enough, when I first got here I went through a lot of what you’re talking about. I really had to learn how important it is to have a support system around you. It took me forever to meet new friends, but I eventually did. I also had a long distance relationship with my ex, and what helped was consistency, enjoying those moments together, and communication. Eventually we did break up only cause we wanted different things for our future. But for couples who know they found the one, I’ve seen so many of those relationships work out for the better.

i feel like NCO tier is so hard because eventually you do get chained to a desk. i am in CE and i always want to have my boots on the ground, but NCOs manage jobs from the desks in the shop. props to you for handling these changes the best that you can 🙏

Haven’t been on your page in a while. I’m joining the army. Found your page back when I was gonna join the AF. Hopefully will ship out in the next few months. Awesome to see a woman who’s been in the military and get a bit of insight, although I know the AF is different from the army.

Don't be discouraged concerning family because you're now part of something that is excellent. Take the opportunities given by the U.S.A.F. to improve yourself right now so that you'll be as prepared as possible to handle critical matters concerning family matters later on in life. You made a great decision when you joined the premier military force of America's military. You couldn't have made a better choice. Take care.

How's your eyesight? I'm asking because I saw that you had PRK surgery several years ago to correct your nearsightedness. Before you had your surgery you wore contacts but also wore glasses quite often as well. Personally I miss not seeing you wearing glasses anymore. Your a very attractive young woman but glasses seemed to enhance your looks even more as well as drawing attention to your lovely nearsighted eyes. Do you ever miss your glasses? I'm asking because many people do start missing their glasses after a couple of years.

16:05 Yea trying not to get shot is a good reason not to join the military I thought. 😄 If you feel like you are lacking trauma in your life however it is definitely recommended. Military deployment will give you purpose! Even if that purpose is murdering the person who took your legs. 😂
