You do not need to give up custody of your children to join the Air Force. All they ask is that have a family plan as to whom your child will be with while you are away. I am a single mom and will be doing my out processing for bmt next month and would be happy to let you know exactly what info you will need.

Melarie Mantanona I lost the weight before I even talked to my recruiter but I can tell you diet is a big deal, creating a calorie deficit and eating higher protein/lower processed carb foods! For me it was cutting down to 1,500 healthy calories a day, and while I was trying to lose weight I would do 3 days of cardio and 2 days of strength training, then once I leaned down I swapped to 3 days of strength training 2 days of cardio. Now I do 4 days of strength training and 1 day of cardio and I’ve started to gain some weight back but it’s muscle and I’m still well below the weight limit. And this didn’t happen overnight, it happened over the span of about a year for me so be super patient with yourself. It’s hard work but you got this!

Melarie Mantanona I started just doing at home body weight workouts, and then once I felt like that wasn’t enough started using resistance bands! Once I was confident enough to start going to the gym I got a lot more into weight lifting though

Elora, I was in the USAF in the early 1980’s stationed at K.I. sawyer AFB in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A few days ago during a bout with nostalgia and general reminiscing I went on KZbin to try and find some videos pertaining to BMT then and now and that is how I stumbled across your channel. I just wanted to say how entertaining and good your videos are....Iv’e even made my wife watch a couple! You are like an “old soul”....or something....it amazes how insightful you are about the air- force and life in general at such a young age. Although I worked in engineering while on active duty, I also have a creative side being a life long musician. While stationed at K.I. I would entertain my fellow airman at off base parties with songs I had written with titles such as “Oh, get me out of the Air Force”, and “Put your B-52 back in your garage (where it belongs”...All that being said, the air-force continues to have an impact on my life to this day....I still stay in touch with 3 or 4 guys I was stationed with and even moved back to Michigan with my wife recently because of that experience. I think you’ll be surprised to see one day many years from now that the same will probably be true for you as well. I could not wait to get out, but it continues to be one of my fondest memories in life. I will be very surprised if I don’t see you have some real success at the national level with what you are doing....you are very talented!.....and you thought YOU were long winded! This is only the second time in 10 years of watching KZbin videos I have felt compelled to write something, but I felt it was worth telling you. This comment I think is linked to my wife’s account ( not so computer savvy!) But it’s the one that comes up on our iPad! Keep doin’ what you are doin’.....TIm “K.I. Sawyer” Strom.

I grew up as a military kid (who is trying to enlist) and bases like yokota, japan and osan, Korea are actually amazing!! (besides COVID-19 at the moment) The base itself can feel suffocating but the best part is to try and explore as much of the country as you can! Going out with friends to experience the culture can really make a difference. I’m not sure how it would be as an active duty member, but I’m sure some of the same things still apply in regards to making the most of the area you’re living in. Im really hoping to swear in soon and get stationed overseas 🤞🏽

Hey Elora!!! I just wanna say hi! And let you know how much I adore you!!! I live in Australia and growing up my stepfather was in the Australian Army for 25 years and honestly for me personally as a young girl/woman growing up in and amongst that environment was just so oppressive, but that’s probably more that he wasn’t the nicest human than anything else. I find it super interesting and empowering to watch your content and see a different perspective of things, it makes me feel so genuinely happy to see women like you out there sharing experiences and setting such an example. I wish you so much happiness and success and strength to push through your not so good days and perspective to appreciate all the little things in the better days. Lots of love Sami 🐨

@EloraJean
@EloraJean 4 жыл бұрын
I have no idea what it means for people looking to join...but all travel for military members is suspended for the time being. This means no moving to different bases, temporary duty in other locations, etc. You can find tons of articles on the updates the Department of Defense is making

As of now they’re moving forward with graduations and shipment dates. They’re just not allowing visitors and such to witness you swear in on ship day and for graduations, they aren’t allowing family or friends to go or any military person that’s not supposed to be there originally. The same Friday of graduation they’re sending airman straight to tech school.

Bmt will go as scheduled. But starting this week there will be no visitors allowed for graduation and no off base time during graduation. You will simply go through the graduation ceremonies as usual (but with no family or friends to watch) and then prep to be shipped off to your tech schools. I got this info the other day from my TSgt who is in charge of setting bmt dates at my local base. So it is accurate info. Just in case you were worried about being misinformed💜.

They vary. There are things called TDY (temporary duty), which is basically anytime you have to go away for work, they can be anywhere from a week-6 months. My husband has gone on a few and they were only 2 weeks, usually for training purposes. Deployments are usually 6 months +. There are a lot of people who join and never get deployed. It is all circumstantial to the job

How long after MEPS is typically the ship date??
@AirmanVision
@AirmanVision 3 жыл бұрын
that answer is different for every single person! after you pass meps you are in the DEP (delayed entry program) while you wait to be selected for a job. Everyone submits a job list to their recruiter and you also have to put an aptitude area. The reason it is different for everyone depends on the jobs they are wanting and how high demand those jobs are. Cyber, Intel and Security Forces are high demand, so people who have those on their list can get a job within weeks sometimes. Medical is a harder career field to get into, so people who want a medical job can be waiting a lot longer. You can be in DEP for up to 12 months (in some cases it can be longer for people who have to get waivers or got hurt and had to delay the process). If you are in DEP for a while, they can offer you to join under the aptitude area you selected (admin, general, mechanical, electrical). If you go in the aptitude area, you are signing an open contract. So you join in one of the categories and you don't get assigned your job until you are in BMT
