I love that shot, and my husband is going to adore it when I show him. He took up photography 3 years ago to try and battle his depression. He loves dramatic portraiture, and he has taken some nice shots.

So happy to hear that your husband is using photography as a creative outlet! I'm humbled to be your inspiration. :D

@@lindsayadlerphoto Thank you Lindsay, he did love the shot like I said. He first started out doing bird / wildlife photography but soon tired of that and turned all his attention to studio photography, which also led into toy photography as well. He's just happy when he's got his camera in his hand though, thats all that matters, he only uses a mid level Nikon camera, which sometimes frustrates him because it doesn't have the features he would like, but he knows it won't improve so he doesn't really complain lol.

Never knew it was called this! I first learned the technique from Roger Deakins talking scenes. It’s a common technique of his for character conversations.

Thanks for the Deconstruction video series Lindsay Adler, it sure helps us see and understand the concepts! Yes, a V-Flat is a major tool/gear to own as so much can be done even with available light. Love the shot in color and b&w.

So, so good! I actually preferred the color edit. I loved your color toning and how you cooled it down (and I'm somebody who usually tones to the warm side). Thanks for always sharing your process from start to finish. Really appreciate your knowledge!

Great stuff enjoyed your photo breakdown here especially for this speedlite guy with limited home studio space and I wondered about your notes on adding a cool tone to shadows how are you doing that in photoshop what approach or technique Im interested to see how this looks on one of my shots?

Thanks ever so much for your deconstruction tuts, Lindsay; love them. How do you add coolness to shadows? Is it a tool specific to C1? I use Lr. Thanks 😄
