Marc Ziegenhain Most admirals sit behind a desk. That’s why Kirk never wanted admiral rank. It would have taken him out of the captains chair. After seven years of stress with constant ship attacks and trying to get her crew home she was probably ready for something different. Most ships battle then go home or shore leave. She didn’t have that option. 70 years from home is a long way.

LordMIGtau frankly, it always struck me as a bit off that Janeway accepted promotion. Sisko would make sense because he was doing all this fleet leadership stuff, but after the war he decided to go be a nonlinear being, which is probably higher than an admiral
@SSPerfectChaosRCT4 жыл бұрын
Archer apparently made Admiral and lost his beagle because of Scotty (happened before significant timeline changes could theoretically occur). Kirk hated being an Admiral. Picard apparently resigned as an Admiral because "it wasn't Starfleet", but before that he was probably heeding Kirk's words to him. Sisko's hanging out with the Prophets so he didn't get the offer to be Admiral. So of course Janeway would jump at the chance to be Admiral.

What if the Enterprise wasn't the closest ship? Why not just have Shinzon request the Enterprise or since it's the flagship of the fleet, it would naturally go.. Such sloppy writing.
@helltRYKS4 жыл бұрын
Actually I think Shinzon already thought of that since they were lured to the edge of the neutral zone border by the positronic readings. He made the Enterprise come closer so that it would be natural to send them and not raise any suspicion. But then again it could be sloppy writing..
@SSPerfectChaosRCT4 жыл бұрын
Actually there's no statement, in alpha or beta canon that I'm aware of, that says the Enterprise-E was the Federation flagship during its time. This is assumed because of the Enterprise-D being the flagship before it. Although in this time I do wish they'd shown a couple more Sovereign-class vessels or some other type of Explorer or Battlecruiser on the Federation side. But we did get the Defiant. Akira and Prometheus classes from it so, half dozen of one, six of the other I guess.
