I think the reason Estonians won is that this type of challenge is part of everyday trainings. When i was in military 20 years ago (conscript) we had to do similar thing after 6 moths of starting. It was about 50km in february (about -10 and snowing) in 24h with only ~6h of daylight. The biggest difficulty is keeping your head and feet in working order (and in that order). Our military tactics emphasize light infantry and guerilla warfare which means every soldier should be able to do this type of marches and challenges. If you do this for the first time and dont really know what to excpect (challenges, terrain etc) it is very easy to not finish. And for all the people here arguing that the british are not good soldiers because they didnt finish: go do a 20k mudrun without proper preparation and then think again. And to people who say "send paras or SAS", yes, absoluteley. Let them come and take the win. Competition only gets better when competitors get tougher. And to all the brits (and other NATO allies): well done, thank you for taking part!
@Rebasepoiss4 ай бұрын
I finished my conscription in Estonia in 2018 and altogether I did 3 similar challenges. The first was after basic training - around 40 km in combat gear + backpack (40 kg in total). The other one was at the end of sergeant training - around 80 km in combat gear (25 kg) in 24h. The third one was for paramedic training - don't know the distance, probably 20-30 km in combat gear + medic's backpack. All three had different challenges as well. The second one was hardest - one person in our squad fainted and had to quit and pretty much all the others were hallucinating by the end.

I applaud our allies teams for taking this challenge on. Doesn't matter they didn't win, Estonians have the home turf advantage and our boys get this harsh training anyway, because we have a specific neighbour. What's important is that our allies get a valuable lesson of how hard it can be and what it takes to defend and fight in various regions and climates. It just highlights what kind of improvement needs to be taken on board to be the best among the best of fighting forces. The goal eventually is for all the allied boys to be good at surviving this challenge and offer eachother a run for the money, together we push eachother up!

I mean it isn't only physically challenging, but also mentally. Usually, these competitions are done without any sleep, because of mock OPFOR and tight schedule, while completing tasks and hiking approx. 100km. You don't really think about that ''oh, it doesn't matter if I finish last'' you rather just want to get back home and rest, every mistake, at least for me in these competitions, were overcomingly infuriating. Belive me, it seemed to me also really simple, just walk, do some easy acrobatics or some sort of things and then just get home, but it really is challenging when you feel like everything, even your team at some point, is just pressing you down so hard that you reach a breaking point and just quit.

First of all, the Ukrainian forces inflicted a number of casualties on the Russian black sea fleet and forced it to completely relocate to the eastern half of the black sea, even making the grain blockade(let alone naval siege/landing potential) untennable, with: 1. Slow moving naval drones that are essentially: a chasis, a small boat motor and an explosive strapped on. 2. Neptune/himars missiles. Estonia and Finland have armed themselves (and continue to expand stockpiles) with blue spear and gabriel-v truck launched sea-skimmer missiles which can literally terminate the Russian Baltic sea fleet from their own territory. The units deployed at Russian mainland are all inside a narrow open patch in the gulf of Finland. The more powerful (black sea) fleet has proven incapable of good horizontal defense to even consistently defend itself against slow naval drones(we can see from combat footage that their horizontal ship defense is spraying at a targer with naval guns hoping to take it out, which doesn't always work out). How well do you think the weaker (baltic sea) fleet defend itself against low flying state of the art anti-ship sea skimmer missiles that fly at 1100km/h? Let alone the fact that Russia's exit from the gulf of Finland (through which it supplies Kaliningrad btw) is long and boxed in(can easily be hit with conventional artillery fire from both Finnish and Estonian side. ) The ships of both the military and mercantile fleets there can literally be erased within minutes by a NATO decision, by simple conventional means.

Funny hownyour mind instantly goes to accusations of cheating, without knowing anything about us. Estonia has mandatory conscription, all of them go through the same harsh training, come rain, heat, sleet or snow, we march on. The reason our teams took the podium places is because it's our home turf and typical training regime. And it's so because we have a very particular neighbour to the east, we can't afford excuses.

What a joke. Nothing difficult about it. They aren't even trekking in full gear or etc. Wokeness has reached the estonian army as well.

Standards have dropped, so scruffy look like a group of alcy's going night fishing down the canal in dpm to dodge bailiffs lol. All 3 British army teams quit, that's the standard of serving soldiers. How can they say they'll come back next year and smash it when they all quit so early on. WEAK

Grief! if we are going to do this get teams who can win, my unit motto was "Train hard, fight easy", also why use a female commentator who looks as if she would worry about her makeup if she had to do it!

Was this a Cub Scouts competition, the Krypton Factor was more challenging than this. Ultimate test ??? I guess the Army is stretched but that is a poor show.

Of course the Estonians were not allowed to even look at the course and tasks before the competition ?

Estonian conscripts earn like 100€ per month when they serve the country. Very very pathetic...
@BravoSquadTV4 ай бұрын
Indeed could be better, but its pathetic to the same pathetic people that only have one egoistic reason to live for e.g money and/or vices of abundance. In Estonia people do not serve the country but the society around them.... other estonians and their culture. I advice you to educate yourself more to understand life better and make your own country better at the same time.
