I remember when I got accepted to UT Austin. They had an auto admission program for the top 7%. I decided to go to UT Dallas instead since it has a way more generous financial aid compared to UT Austin. Even still, this is a good vetting process.

This is a no brainer. Failure to consider standardized test scores results in lower admission standards and, thus, poorer student performance. My cat could have predicted this. There's a huge difference between an applicant who garners a 1450 on the SAT versus an 1160. There just is.

And honestly, even if you score low its the resilience that leads you to score high another indicator of the quality of a student

what if I am in the top 7 percent and only a 1490 on SAT? for UT Comp Sci how would my chances be
@abigaillewis48158 ай бұрын
I'd maybe retake the test. I know several people who got rejected from that program with scores in the 1500s. Comp Sci is very competitive :)

@@abigaillewis4815 I see, I am also in IB do you think that would any value to AOs?

UT Austin's process should be the model for admissions departments across the country. HS Teacher recommendations are on their face worthless to anyone who is being honest about the way admissions has been conducted in the last 10 years. About as worthless as essays. Sounds like a Professor from a dual enrollment program might be a recommendation. Especially if that course is in the subject the applicant plans on majoring. To be fair. grade inflation is happening in Private and Religious schools, no one except Admissions Officers thinks that public HS' with their unionizes are purposefully inflating grades for students.
