I'm afraid this doesn't work for me at all since Audition changes the speed/duration of the tracks when I change from 44100 to 48000. Audition resamples the tracks but like I said also changes the speed/duration of the clips. Very strange and annoying. Anybody else experiencing this?

This was interesting but did not work for me. After saving a promo session inadvertently in 96000 Hz, my boss could not open on his machine by simply clicking on the session as usual. I tried your method, but when I played inside the session, clips did not match up. The session blocks were in the same places, but the clip selections did not match. Ultimately, the solution was to have my boss open up a new session in 96000 Hz, then copy and paste the clips from the original session over to his new one. Mind boggling. All this because I changed the Focusrite interface plug to a different usb on my mac after the computer went to sleep and the interface disconnected. Still, I will save your method in my back pocket. You never know. Seems pretty clever.

Thanks Mike! This is very helpful, but I hit a glitch. After changing the bit depth and sample rate, all my clips were altered to start and stop at the wrong places. Any tips on how to make this change without that happening?

I'm having the same problem. I just changed the sample rate from 48000 to 44100 Hz using text edit. Did you (or anybody else) find a solution?

I can't believe something so essential has no graphical interface for it especially if it only takes rewriting a number in a simple text file and refreshing a session.
@misterjaroslav68592 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I lost myself looking for bit rate settings. In order to change bitrate in an older version of Adobe Audition, one needs to save the empty Project as an XML file. Change it and confirm bitrate after opening.

Mike, I am pretty new to this audio editing, and your videos are super helpful, like this one. I have a question for you, as I am now stuck. I did all that you showed and tried to save the file with the new sample and bit rate. But the text editor would not let me save as a session file, and instead as a text file. What did I do wrong? It will be helpful to know what to do from here. Thank you!

You can always rename the file from .txt to .sesx once you've finished editing

@@MikeRussell Thank you! I was able to get it to save as a sessions file finally. However, I encountered the same problem as most people who had commented on how on the tracks were messed up. It felt like I had to rebuild the tracks again. Did you all ever find out what may cause that? I could not find the discussion in your thread in the other webpage you had linked on to. Thank you again.

Definitely make a copy. I tried this. It converted the sample rate but I still couldn't convert in that sample rate to export it. It also not only flat out deleted clips on my track but jumbled them up and ruined work I spent ages on. I can't go back an fix it without editing the whole thing again. Bit rate didn't even change at all.
@MikeRussell3 жыл бұрын
That’s strange. It worked fine for me. Hope you can recover it.
@limerence83653 жыл бұрын
@@MikeRussell Thank you. I have a habit of things going wrong so I converted it before I tried this way so luckily I still had a saved copy. In the end I just made a new project, chose the proper sample rate and bit depth from the beginning, uploaded my previously converted file, let audition do the conversion, then exported that project no problem. I've always found working with adobe products, there will either be a problem somewhere, or you don't know what you're doing to figure out the problem the way the programmers imagined and you have to get very creative to solve your problem.

Asking for a friend, but I have 2 Blue Yeti microphones, one only records at 16 bit, the other at 24 only, is it safe/okay to set my Multi-track on Audition to 24 bit without having any issues? Thanks Mike! I'm the same guy who always comments too
@MikeRussell9 ай бұрын
Yes, it's safe to set your multitrack in Adobe Audition to 24-bit, even if one of your Blue Yeti microphones only records at 16-bit, as Audition will automatically up-sample the 16-bit audio to match the higher bit depth of the other microphone.

I'm trying to solve a problem and I can't find a solution, although it's possible I'm not searching with the correct question. I'm a video producer who's begun producing a podcast. Your tutorials have been extremely helpful in orienting me in Audition and audio in general as well. Thanks for that! I'm videoing the podcast recording with a single camera, 24fps, not using the on-camera audio except for reference. However, in most of the recordings (and all of the recent ones), I have a 1-3 frame audio drift. I'm trying to see what can be done to prevent this, rather than having to chop up the finished audio (edited and mastered out of Audition) in Premiere Pro and slide it the necessary frames. I'm hoping I can do something in Audition to help with this? Higher sample rates? Threats of corporal punishment? I hope you have something, because I don't want to have to find another mountain to climb looking for a different (audio) guru. Thanks in advance.
@MikeRussell4 жыл бұрын
Thank you and great question. I'll have to look into this for Audition. I record in ScreenFlow and experience around a 3 frame drift. There is an Apple AU plugin I use that syncs samples. Very handy!

Will this process work with older versions of AA (3.0) in my case (yeah I know) have got sublime text but it just appears as many lines of numerical code (8 columns for each line) I presume (Well hoping) this can be translated into what we see in the video but having no luck so far! Any helps much appreciated!
@MikeRussell4 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, Adobe changed the way session files are saved when they moved to the CC releases. Adobe now uses .sesx files which hold much more data than the .ses files that they used to use. It's unlikely, given the developments in the software, that you'd be able to import a .sesx template file into Adobe Audition 3.0 I'm afraid.
@Safeway_Sage5 жыл бұрын
So, here's a question, can Audition export at 320kbps?. It looks like the limit is 192kbps
@MikeRussell5 жыл бұрын
Yes, 320 mp3 is possible!
@darrenforster993 жыл бұрын
I can't believe that a premium package like Adobe Audition can't actually do this from within the program itself. Audition is a good program but having to load up a text editor to change basic settings like sample rate and bit depth is a bit of a bad design - maybe Adobe should get round to fixing that!
@MikeRussell3 жыл бұрын
You get the option to chose these when you first create a session from within Audition.
@darrenforster993 жыл бұрын
@@MikeRussell I don't seem to get that option - I just click "View->Multitrack Editor and it just automatically creates a new multitrack with default 44,100 stereo sound - I take it I'm creating multitracks wrongly then? It even defaults to 44,100 when I'm editing something that's a totally different setting.
@MikeRussell3 жыл бұрын
44,100 is the default for audio. 48,000 is for video.

it just opens an image or file location for me when i drop into text edit?
@MikeRussell3 жыл бұрын
Which OS are you using? This should just open the .sesx file which is just a text file created by Audition using their own extension to ensure it's associated with Audition when opening.
