It’s going to get so crazy, really fast…“Quantum leaps” And I can’t wait!
@skierpage Жыл бұрын
No they're not. A quantum leap would be removing the distinction between Illustrator and Photoshop (and now Firefly). A 2-D image is a set of blended textured areas. There's no excuse for the different areas of a generated image not to be separate named paths. And it's silly that Matt was creating images of old men in Firefly that look like the generated woodblock vector images of wolves, but aren't vector images. Then think harder: all the lens effects simulate mapping a 3-D scene... where is the 3-D wolf or old man model? Adobe is managing 2½ cash cows, not breeding a cyber-bull.

I spent 12 years learning how to be a graphic designer and digital illustrator. Adobe found a way to nullify my abilities in only a year or 2... I'm impressed, but also disheartened.
@jcriley7695 Жыл бұрын
Its a tool, use it to get to the finish line faster by assistance with ideas and themes using AI. I did design for 12 years before I got in the Architectural Industry and would have loved these tools. I always spent so much time with the feel and theme of projects. Plus everyone looks at other peoples work anyway, artwork is influenced by everything. And every artist on this planet looks at other work, not even to copy but inspiration. The things I get inspired by often have nothing to do really with the project Im on but pointed me into a direction I didn't think of, AI does this exact thing for me, points me into a direction that feels right and go with it. Fascinating technology.
@nelyrions1838 Жыл бұрын
Illustration part is probably toast. Graphic design not. Graphic design isnt about making nice imagery. It's about designing. Wether that is branding a product, making a label, a logotype, UI, homepage, whatever. AI's are absolute garbage in this department. Companies will still require a graphic designer that can produce all these things. AI just speeds things up. The only issue i see is that there's so many self proclaimed people in out there that think they can fill the role of a graphic designer. I've worked with companies that had people in it that thought they could do everything with AI or by themself. I always have to come back to fix things that they have messed up. You don't have to worry. Just embrace AI and incorporate it into your workflow, it will speed things up for you.

@@spec24 to hear you say, it seems like this is a fairytale world, technology progresses, old useless jobs are supplanted, exciting new businesses flourish in the world, and off we go towards infinite progress. Do you realize, instead, that this process has caused an infinity of devastating economic crises, due to overproduction and the collapse of the rate of profit, which have forced billions of men to wage war on other billions and to massacre each other for centuries? Do you have any idea what the current economic and geopolitical situation is like in the world? Do you know that the same very small elites who profit from this capitalistic production system know very well that the revolutions that are preparing due to the next crises, accelerated by the exponential pace of technological progress, will certainly lead the proletariat to hang them from the highest poles, and that therefore the upheavals we are witnessing in recent years have as their ultimate aim the restriction of freedoms and the establishment of a new fascism?

Thanks for your videos Matt, always entertaining. I find AI is good for those who are willing to settle for what the machine gives you. I've generated a ton of images and have never gotten what I want. I've gotten great images, but until your brain is wired directly to the machine, you're always going to have to settle. The Illustrator AI stuff is promising as it allows you to more easily edit the results. I love to draw and the process of creating my own art is what is fun for me, as I get more satisfaction out of it.
@DrawAndErase Жыл бұрын
Scary stuff, I like that they're embedding it in their tools so they keep it in the creative software but it's scary. Imagine creating a card game, you can basically generate all your cards in seconds speeding up the process dramatically, but where is it sourcing the artwork from, are there any legality issues from this, and with it only getting better in the future this automation is going to take over.

In firefly is it possible to use an existing image and use the “match style from sample image” so that original image content remains but just inherits the style of the reference image? For example…wanting to use a photorealistic rendering and making it watercolor or any style you want, but it will still retain all of the content from the original design. I’ve been waiting for one of these ai image generators to do this, but all that I have seen alter the original image too much and it doesn’t resemble the original design enough.

Whether you use Photoshop legally or not... as a Graphic Designer I see features like this exciting but also incredibly worrying for the future. It won't be long you'll be able to achieve fantastic results without any skill or talent whatsoever. I've had a play around with some of the Photo AI apps, and whilst some of the results are questionable for a final output. Others have left me worried that the Graphic Design professional of the future will definitely become a lot less streamlined and less profitable as a professional in the future if AI makes it more accessible for everyone to get the results without the talent and skill needed.

EDIT: Oh, this is about Adobe? I thought you were talking about Chatgpt which just released the DALLE plugin and some other stuff. Who cares? They've completely ruined it with censorship. It actually refused to illustrate a moment from my novel because one of the characters felt uncomfortable. I'm not making this up. Chatgpt outright stated that it was the reason. Here is the full response it gave me (note that this is after it made altered versions that didn't break the bs rules): Semi-realistic CGI in the style of computer animation: Original Context: Zelana's discomfort and Kaz's obliviousness were emphasized. Modification: I shifted the focus to a more neutral tone, emphasizing a moment of mutual understanding between Zelana and Kaz without highlighting Zelana's discomfort. Watercolor painting of a well-lit medical office: Original Context: The scene emphasized Zelana's politeness and inner discomfort in response to Kaz's remarks. Modification: I focused on Zelana's introspection and Kaz's leadership qualities, emphasizing the emotional depth of their interaction without referencing Zelana's suppressed discomfort.
