I have been using the Photoshop Canvas Size method for some time...I've made actions for different sized borders that include a yellowish bleed at the edge of the image...using actions makes it a one click solution.

The easiest way to export and reimport an image in Lightroom Classic is to set up an automated export that creates a jpeg or tiff, saves it to the original folder and adds it to the catalogue. It’ll appear next to the original in the film strip, depending on how you have your sort set.

I use the Photoshop process as it is so easy. How about showing how to make a beveled edge in Photoshop, like an actual matt cut border around the image.
