Post retirement. Rode a Norton Dominator 99 SS full of Norton racing program parts. Picked a built 02 Daytona 955i, one owner, engineer type, low miles. Hope to make a few passes at the strip. Lifelong dream, last big bucket list item. Got the love of my life and our great son who’s grown now. So a little bit more racing is my remaining big goal in this world. Will it run single digit quarters close to 150? I’m going to have fun finding out. And like my wife & son, it’s one more blessing in my varied life. And riding jockey is actually a stretching exercise for my back. My bike is my freedom. Fortunately I still have some muscle, vision and lightning reflexes so I’m going to let it rip one more time. I might even get into the low 10s. For under $10k, on a nice looking, “ordinary” Triumph triple rat bike. Why not? I know I will lose to a McClaren or a Gixxer but I’m not getting shut down by an “ordinary “ liter bike, if there is such a thing. I was drag racing my bicycle at thirteen and never completely forgot it. Now I’m going to take a serious go. Because I’m still too young to be old. -Matt’s dad

lol, You really have nailed it on the head! I love my 04 Yammy R1. It was my second bike and now my forever bike! And ya...never enough helmets, gloves and gear. For me its not about the speed, its the power the bike yields and the amount of attention required to ride it. You truly have to live in the now! You, the bike and the road. The only frustration is the culture of Harley riders who refuse to wave back to anyone outside their culture lol

Modern classics for me, specifically my 2020 triumph speed twin 1200. Looks like a motorcycle should but has enough oomph to keep you interested. Dropped a performance cam in it, and nitron suspension all round, and a PC5. Handles like a dream, and goes like shit off a shovel! 108hp and 89 ft lbs of torque at the wheel

This was a cool video idea. I can relate in so many ways! I started riding 4 years ago, I always thought sport bikes just weren't for me and that they looked weird. I then had an opportunity to trade my KLX250 for a mint 2002 CBR 600 F4i. I decided sure ill try these weird looking bikes out for a bit and sell it. I fell in love with 4 cylinders, the power delivery, the agility, the stopping power, everything about them was fine tuned. I then understood why they have such a following. Im on the look out now for a 2004 zx10r just from you mentioning it many times, lets hope it doesn't kill me. Ride safe man!

Imagine thinking guys who have ridden for 20 years or longer are afraid to get on a sport bike. The reality is; HD riders invest way more in their bikes, so have way more to lose if they lay them down, and the reality is HD riders also have way more experience riding than your typical 25 yr old sport bike rider, it’s really not debatable. So to suggest that HD riders who have more skill, and spend more money on the hobby, are also afraid to ride a little 400 lb toy is pretty silly. The inverse is more likely. It’s more challenging to control an 850 lb bike esp and specifically at low speed. Add to that these are 30k or 40k at times machines, way more to lose. Most sport bike riders with no experience in a large Harley couldn’t handle one. That’s not speculation, it’s fact. It takes real skill to maneuver a heavy bike. End of day many , possibly most, sport bike riders get little older and graduate to Harley’s anyway.

I started riding "sport bikes" when they were called motorcycles. My first "sport bike;" was an RZ350. At the time it was the bike to have. 36 years later I have owned an R1, Aprillia V4, CBR1000 and so on and on and on. What is a sport bike? Shit I don't know I still call them motorcycles. I have drifted in and out of crews, but it has always been a mix of bikes and riders. Some on hyper motards, some on nakeds even some super fast guys on Harleys. I think that if you label a person as a sport bike rider, your excluding riders who ride with a crew or by themselves who don't ride a bike with a faring or is a race replica. I think a sport bike is in the rider and not what they ride. So let's change the term to "sport riders".

Sum what agree in this day and age or era however, back in the 90s and 00s the culture was sport bikes. I live in Fort Wayne, IN and if you have ridden a motorcycle or know any thing about motorcycles you know about Taco bell... Now Fort Wayne has a lot of taco bells but in contexts of motorcycle there is only one, and it spans over 3 decades of tradition, if you have a sport bike or want to see a sport bike go to Taco Bell and they will come.

I had two Harleys before that and still have one of them. I ride a ZX10R now. I guess that makes me an outlier? 😂Honestly, I love all motorcycles and will ride until I die or simply cannot throw a leg over one.

Honestly as someone who is only now getting into motorcycle riding, im choosing to go for the sport bikes cause I've always found them fascinating as fuck. ill be buying my first a ninja 400 here soon. (im aware its not completely a sport bike but its a starting point).

47 today and I'm on my 3rd sport bike, my 2nd R1. Currently I ride a 2012 R1 tuned and making 170 at the rear wheel. But I've seen enough death that I ride cautiously.

I finally bought a bike at 42 years old after years of putting all other priorities first. It took a local ad for a Honda CB500F with all the riding gear at a really good price. It’s a great looking bike & super fun to ride. I’m hooked & already looking at an upgrade after 8 months. I would love any advice on switching up to a 650 type bike or 1000cc. I’m also torn between naked & sport. What is the real difference?

Ideas: GP Bikes vs Revzilla, ie: selection, custom service, returns, pricing etc. 2. Euro vs Japanese bikes: cost, value, warranty, pros/cons.
