Terrible. Can't put a price on your head. Price is a pretty good indicator of quality/life of the helmet/etc. Price shouldn't be much of a factor at all. New riders fail to think about the gear costs when they get into riding.

Couple notes from an owner: Amazing helmet for people who suffer from TMJ/TMD or any related jaw problems. The option to pump the cheeks up help with this, and cut down on vibration at higher speeds. To add to this they also have different size liners available ~10mm increments. Be aware visors outside clear or dark smoke for scorpion helmets are difficult to find inside the US. They do make holographic, red, gold and blue visors for both the r1 and st1400 (they use same visor).

@@Mohmwd_farid I'd say it falls more the round side than a k5s, I found the k5 to be tight in my jaw area. But I also don't know how much the crown shape affects the area around the upper jaw

What I'm looking for when I'm choosing a helmet? 1) Brand - if it's not Arai or Shoei I'm not interested in that helmet. 2) good view for a straight sitting position (I don't ride a sport bike) 3) good ventilation as I live in Thailand and here's real hot. 4) price

I had Shoei X14 and Scorpion R1, and currently wear Shoei RF1400 and AGV Corsa R. If you want most bang for your buck the R1 is unbeatable. Those inflatable cheek pads are a real game changer. But my favorite helmet is the Corsa R.

4 things that matter to me the most, Quick release ratchet to take off not D ring, the overall price has to be a good deal (not necessarily the cheapest just a good helmet for the money), colours/design have to be reasonably bright and the ability to have a pinlock is a must

The first thing I look for before any of that stuff is the wind noise at speed. That's the most important feature I think. I like to ride at speeds exceeding 150mph A LOT, and I hate ear plugs. I need a quiet helmet.

No talk about safety or safety technology? Safety ratings... DOT, ECE, SNELL etc. Safety technology like MIPS. Shell materials and build. That's the first thing I look for in a helmet. I understand that there are plenty of good, protective, helmets that may not have those ratings or anything for one reason or another, but it's good to know what those ratings mean and to look for helmets with those. A standard DOT rating doesn't have to mean that it's safe, just means it's legal in the states. Personally I buy SNELL helmets, if you can find one with MIPS too that's a great bonus. ECE in some cases is acceptable. It does reduce your selection and increase price sometimes but it's worth it to save your life. My first ever helmet was Scorpion R420. SNELL rated, ~$200.

For me its the built in sun visor. I live in a place where its too bright when its sunny, but ocasionally go through a very very dark tunnel and all vehicles are fast. And sometimes have to ride sundown and it gets dark eventually.

According to me, you also shouldn't ignore dual visors, like the ones that have an in-built sun visor which are like 2 in one helmets. You get sun protection in the day and clear view in the night.

If you’re super bougie you can always get a custom liner upholstered by any tailor or upholsterer. A buddy of mine had a silk liner 😂😂 I know silk is comfy but it’s too damn hot around here for silk. Edit: I say “Super bougie” but he only spent like $40 for the material for all his helmets and the labor so it’s not really a bougie thing it just takes time and effort He even had emergency pull tabs added to it and all without destroying the ordinal liner so he could sell it after a couple years and get a new one because he can’t keep anything for more than a couple years. His dad has 2 Bugatti’s though so they don’t live in reality.

My head measures 56cm (across my brow and above my ears) but my other helmets (Arai, Schuberth, X-Lite and Suomy) are all Large. Shoei is extremely versitile and has different liners you can put in that will be best suited for you. Generally no off the shelf helmet is going to be absolutely perfect.

Shocking that at no point when looking at motorcycle helmets is safety considered. Not all helmets are equally safe. Look at SHARP and the ECE certification. DOT is meaningless, and SNELL isn't much better
