Un ottima sonata , l'ultimo movimento è per me il migliore. Lodevole l'esecuzione di Ruiz. Un bell'inserimento.

A strange Piano Sonata, because of its dimensions, that seems to aspire to grandiosity, but in reality spoiled from magniloquence by a sort of anxiety continuosly broken and nervous...Pianism is technically speaking closer to that of character pieces, or even to the classicistic models. There are beautiful ideas, melodically speaking, but the treatment doesn' t seem to correspond to the large form chosen. First movement is a bit ripetitive, and a bit accademic too... Second movement, with its expressive intensity, and a certain nordic inspiration seems to be the best one in this Sonata. Thanks for the post, beautifully performed!

Dedicated to Brahms but.....more akin Schumann.....tonality was used by both Brahms (#2) and Schumann (#1) .... but music ideas are more by Schumann side although Jensen has got its own personality and this job is worth as standalone and not just a posthumous legacy/ homage

Good points, typical German style of writing, something that Brahms would like.

George L I think Brahms told about the piece that its more like 4 pieces than a sonata.

00:41 Wedding March anyone? Overall, I'm startled by how much the first movement reminds me of Mendelssohn. Fast, passionate, almost reprimanding. Nice!
