Just watched this for the first time. The thing I liked best was his love of playing. You could just see that he was enjoying himself fully. That’s how the trombone should be played.

What a player. Beautiful clear pure sound and a great low end, and he sounded even better in person. Sense of humour shines brightly through. That look at 0:44 is pure Benny. A sad loss.

He was Bass Trombonist at the Halle Orchestra from 1999 until his passing and at the Ulster Orchestra before that, there are a lot of recordings from both orchestras he played on.
