Thee very first caravan demolition derby I saw and know of was in 1974 at Woodford Glen Raceway at Kaiapoi ,Christchurch New Zealand, that's some 47 years ago today date being 17/09/2021

Used to do Warton a lot, loved it. One year a young upstart in an all black Saab with only the words "Eat my shit" or something painted on the back of it started a race. I noticed it because I passed it being trailored there on the motorway. Some older/fatter/balder guy must have taken exception to this young upstart and nearly killed him. Said older guy just nailed it towards the first corner with only the intention of teaching this young lad a lesson. The Saab was squashed in half, the young guy was hospitalised and the old fat bald guy was high fiving his mates in the pits. I do understand competitivness but after that I stopped going.

These types of Derbys are absolutely epic. The best type hands down. Hundy percent guaranteed maximum carnage every time. I loved how the other cars used the empty trailers as ramps and drove straight up them into the car pulling it lmao. A normal Demo Derby seems lame in comparison now once you have seen a Caravan Derby. It's a shame they stopped them at Prestige pools Waikaraka Speedway. I believe they also had one towing boats as well one year and possibly a portaloo one where some of the drivers put like a mannequin or a "guy" sitting on the toilet. But that's going back about 10 years or so lol. Freakin hilarious. Absolutely loved it. 🤣🤣👍👍

Looks like a lot of fun but look at that mess for the track personal to deal with. Tracks that have a variety of races are the best and the one's that will be around longer. The track's in my neck of the woods very seldom have anything besides the weekly circle track racing. The track's change owners/management quite often because they don't make enough money to keep going. Stuff like this type race or whatever other different races in between their regular races would keep them going.
