Still listening in 2022. Hard to believe I had never heard of Adrienne Young until 2021.

This is the song I want sung when my ashes are cast in the river. I am sure Jerry G. is smiling in heaven when he You-tubes this video. Ms. Young and her band do a fabulous, moving performance here.

Does my heart good to see these youngins capture what Jerry termed his "transient Art-works". This gal & her pals absolutely NAILED Brokedown. And contributed their own Country brand to it. Thanx, Zoom, as I hadn't ever heard of this lass. I shall now be seeking Furthur performances of hers...

Goodness. Gracious. Beautiful. Talented. Socially conscious. Laying back behind the beat. And a great band. It is indeed a far gone lullaby.

Loved it, the instrumentals are perfectly subtle. God bless Jerry

Beautiful! I am now an Adrienne Young fan. Hadn't heard of her, but I look forward to exploring the rest of her musical body of work. And yeah, Jerry would love this!

I gotta agree with MusicNeverStopped1 I've been a Head since 1969. Plenty of my friends, acquaintances and just local bands were playing Dead tunes much to the appreciation of their listeners. This versions happens to be a beauty. Don't be such a Taliban head stringfn. The Dead belong to all of us, some to listen, and some to try playing for their own and others' satisfaction. If you can't tolerate other's covers. split, don't stick around being negative.

I think Jerry would have been flattered. Also, if you had the good luck to experience this tune played in the moment at Grey Fox, you would have found it moving. Sometimes a tape doesn't say it all.

To reicheroni, close your eyes and listen. Try again. It is a testimony for the ever after. A little more real and and gentler than the Dead's heroin induced version. It comes from a little deeper. THe Dead got lost half the time in the drugs and the ending was sad. THis version is more hopeful. It is the river that rolls and we have a good place to go. Nothing like the end of Dead concert with so many lost souls
@MrSharkey1114 жыл бұрын
Hey pepeboy234, I don't agree with you.The Dead were not all drug addicts! Listen to "Ripple" going into "'brokedown palace"' on the american beauty album. No one can touch it! Besides this Jerry was'nt always messed up on drugs when the Dead did this song! As for all the lost souls, there are many of them in the world,not just at the end of Dead concerts! Peace!

Such a pretty girl with a soothing, smooth voice, but alas, like they all do, she has found a hubby, and is in blissful marriage/motherhood...not with me, though! Sigh!
