My brother requested this particular version of this song to be played at his funeral. It’s been nearly a year now and I miss him so much. This tune hurts to hear but it soothes me, too. “I love you more than words can tell”

Same here I requested the same song for my end, and when I think of those of whom I have lost, this song and ripple give me a moment with them one again, I am sorry for your loss, I love you so much as a friend of the dead, and music. I hope life gives you all that you deserve.

Had a Grateful Dead lyrics book once. The author wrote about this song in particular. He said that Ken Kesey spoke at his college and said after his son was killed in a bus accident he went to a Dead show and they dedicated this song to him. The author then wrote that Kesey told them, “It was then I realized that music wasn’t about this (raised a fist in the air) but about this (hugged himself)

For years, I said that Box of Rain and Jack Straw were my favorite Dead tunes, but this version of this tune is really special.

Absolutely. God, imagine a world where Billy and Jerry could’ve jammed? And for me, he’s the only person to bring tears to my eyes singing Jerry tunes. And his original stuff? This kid is so talented.

Billy is very good on the more mellow, emotional Garcia songs. Wonderful that someone so talented is taking these songs into this century so well. You know, Mozart died a long time ago, but we still listem to him, thanks to so many musicians who take the music forward s well. Yeah, perhaps not exactly like Wolfgang played it, but...

Wellll, That band never does a "bad" job of any song .....but .... Not my cup of tea. I much prefer the upbeat, bluegrass influenced tunes.
