I have watch this video three times. I’m at a time of decision making. I am grateful for your simple yet interesting way of capturing images and video. I was in Spain last summer with my a7iv with a big lens and my Fuji camera. I was tired after the third day of carrying such a big set up. I kept gravitating to my smaller camera. I have decided to go for an a7cii to remove what you call, “resistance.” Thanks for your videos. You’ve made a difference here in my journey towards being a photographer.

Adrien, I have the same camera and lens. I really like the comb for walking around taking candid shots. I am able to be more attentive to composition and activities going on around me and less on gear and their bulky distractions.

Could you please talk a little bit about settings you use for photo on the A74? Specifically, how do you work with white balance. I have an a7C and find it to be all over the place in AWB mode. Really love the still videos you include, so wonderful and peaceful.

That's really all you need for normal kind of photography. I have the same 35mm setup on Canon Crop (EOS R50 + 24mm 2.8). As alternative I use also often my smartphone.

I sold my a7iv for an a7cii for exactly the reasons you described and love it. I then bought my wife an a6600 which is even more comfortable in the hand and has me questioning if I even need full frame at all.

Another beautiful video. And challenge posed. Earlier this year I took my a7iv to Spain with the big and heavy Sigma 24-70mm Art. On my second day there I poked my head in a small camera shop and came out with the tiny 35mm Samyang. What a delight!! Next February I am headed back with an a7cr and the Sigma 35mm 2.8 C. Maybe. Because now that I've watched this I'm remembering the joy of this tiny and sharp lens that punches way above its weight. But thank you anyway. ;-)

Great video, I enjoyed jt thoroughly. I'm also very glad that I picked up a Zeiss 35mm (used) for $200, so compact it made me feel like going out and shoot every day :)

Any chance you could provide a link to an ND filter and a Pro mist filter that would work for the Samyang lens?

Was wondering why u wouldnt go for a fuji xt5 after watching so many of your videos, and now I realised Sony A7IV can also fulfill your need of videography for youtube on a more professional level. I am thinking of getting the Sony A7IV but still hesitate to do so cuz of its flip screen, since I always prefer a tilt screen for photograpy... Anyway good video as always

Great video, content and photos. Have you considered the small Sony 2.5 G 40mm lens? Or did you end up with the Samyang because it was 35mm? Thanks!

the sayang 35mm f1.8 version is also very small, not exactly tiny like its 2.8 version

I was recently considering the a7cr with the 40mm g lens just for the compactness but I realised it's not thaaat much smaller than an a7iv with a 35gm (what I'm using now). I like to carry a small 6L sling for my setup and carry a few things but maybe I should revisit the idea of carrying even less. Another great video by the way 👍

That's good to know regarding the neglegible difference between the 35 GM and the 40 G - thanks for the heads up! I've also been looking to scale things back in terms of weight and am condsidering the 40 G with my A7IV thinking it might be something of a full-frame equivalent to the GRIIIx (even thought it is probably double tge size and weight).
@williamself1949
@williamself1949 11 ай бұрын
Just a follow-up as I did some further reading on the 35GM and 40G: "Sony FE 40mm F2.5 G weighs 173g, which means it is 351g (66%) lighter than the Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM which has a weight of 524g" That's a considerable difference!
@AlDarweesh
@AlDarweesh 11 ай бұрын
@@williamself1949 It is much lighter but I still prefer the gm because it's Sony's best prime lens optically and it's much better in low light!

my everyday set up is a7rv and 35gm without lens hood.. it used to be rx1rii until I sold it off few years ago because the af cant keep up for some faster moving stuff. for still its fine. If Sony revisit it and make 1 that af as quick as a9 or a1.. and keeping its same size and weight.. I'll buy 1 right away.

For me, 35mm forces me to get a little too close for my own comfort. I like to photograph people and 50mm allows me to get close enough without affect the scene or getting noticed as often.
