Just like #3. You had 2 (4 if it was nighttime in his game and he caught it before) kinds of Pokeballs that could've prevented that from happening. As soon as I see a wild shiny, throw a Quick Ball. If Kingler broke out, spam Net Balls (higher catch rate if you throw it at a Water or Bug type), Dusk Ball (if it's nighttime), or Repeat Ball (if I've caught Kingler before).

If you saved a while ago and the shiny didn't generate, it won't happen again at the same point. Its generation is totally random and not set on a place nor time so if you fail, you won't have it again.

Saving as soon as possible is a must but streamers usually celebrate it and just don't double check it before messing. Naming a pokémon also helps so that you instantly know which was the shiny and you won't delete it by mistake.

Well, here is my fail. I just got Pokémon sword yesterday. I went and checked out a dynamic raid and it was a shiny butterfree. I pretty much just started and I mainly had regular poke balls, so it literally escaped. I was so, so disappointed.

Shiny Pokémon rarity has been split! Same 1:4096 odds to obtain a shiny, but there are two types of shiny. 15/16 show stars, 1/16 show squares. Square rarity is 1 in 65536! Square shiny from egg is 1/65536

when you're hatching 1000+ eggs per hunt, most of us don't want to spend an extra 20 hours surprise trading all of them away and then even more time sifting through whatever we get in return. I only keep and trade 6IV or competitively perfect 5IV mons.

This video is a reason why you should bring a Pokémon with Heal Pulse in a Sandstorm or Hail, if the Pokémon takes damage from it, and not False Swipe. And also why you should either put your hatched shinies in the box first, or pay attention to the sparkle icon.

Even if his last save was before he started hatching the eggs, egg 518 was coded to be shiny so he just needed to get that far again and he’d get it. That’s how egg shinies work. There’s a specific egg set to be shiny and once you reach that egg in the chain, it’ll hatch shiny

Nah. It’s all a set order. That’s how people were able to egg RNG hunt. They’d use a 3rd party program to see the value of their future eggs and find the shortest path to a perfect one. Thing is though, eggs also have IDs to them, and if that egg id matched your saves id, then that egg will be shiny. Take my ultra moon for example. My id was 2444 (number from 0-4095 I believe) and if any Pokémon/egg had an ID that matched, it’d be shiny. A friend of mine did that to hatch me a perfect 6 IV adamant Anorith as a birthday present, but since the ID didn’t match their game, they found someone who’s ID did match and they hatched it shiny for them. You can’t see this value legitimately, but by using an outside program you can, which is how I found mine. I’m no egg RNG master, so for more information, I encourage you to check out the Pokémon Showdown WiFi chat room and ask there since knowing the people on there, most would not oblige to helping

Mr. KrustyKrust apparently that’s not how it works in this game. At least the eggs seem to be set when the egg is generated at the day care. I did a quick test. I saved in front of the day care with an egg ready, took that egg and walked until another egg was generated. I hatched both eggs and recorded everything about them, with special attention on IV’s since the parent had an everstone guaranteeing a Mild nature. I then reset and repeated the method. The first egg that was already generated stayed the same and the second egg had completely different IV’s. So I guess that’s how it worked in past generations but now the eggs are randomized when they are generated in the day care so he can’t just hatch the 518th egg and get a shiny again because it’ll be a different egg. Maybe I did my method wrong and I need more testing but from that quick test I’m pretty sure that’s how eggs work in SwSh. (Also I might’ve misunderstood you if you meant the eggs were already waiting to be hatched from the PC then yeah that’s totally how that works)

I failed a shiny Elekid back in ORAS. I released it without even knowing I had hatched a shiny. I found out I had hatched one after going to my pokedex and seeing that I had seen a shiny Elekid. Oh well, I reclaimed it the next day lol

shiny dynamax/gigantamax fails shouldn't even be in here because they only have a 9% catch rate with the best possible balls anyway so it's not really your fault for failing it. Yes you can use Master Balls for 100% but not many people have a bunch of Master Balls.
