@@dexter6447 I just think front door diamonds is like the worst possible hand to bluff with here, you block there auto folds. He should have a number of other bluffs here, like 9Ts/QTs/A4cc/A5cc, that would be better as they unblock auto folds. Also not a spot there needs to be that many bluffs, since his value range is so narrow for three streets, maybe just over pairs, 88/JJ/AJ
@dexter64478 ай бұрын
@@TheNow_Now fair but he does block a lotta kj qj that could be hero calling. I think Barney was pretty obviously getting sticky with a J for several reasons and those are some of his only calls (even if he’d be leaning more to a fold w the diamond in his hand). I just think Eric read the situation v well and made a good bluff that shouldn’t really be getting called by j9
@TheNow_Now8 ай бұрын
@@dexter6447 maybe, but I don't think boatman has very many good hands here that get to the river in this manner. what hands does he get here with that aren't check/raised at some point? They are all like one pair hands. AJ maybe even raises flop at some frequency. So if he doesn't call with J9, what does he call with, just QJ/KJ? J9 is not the best bc it blocks T9s and Q9s, but I think it makes for a pretty decent call. I don't think its the craziest call ever either like Afrait was making it out to be, but in the context it was just a big hand that really shifted the momentum of the whole tournament and caused a tantrum. I wouldn't even call it a hero call. He raised early, but the range for Afriat could be huge in this situation. Now, after the flop he tosses out $250k. Top pair easily comes along on that bet. On the turn, he bets out 750k into a 980k pot after the 2 of clubs comes. Ask yourself, what hand did the 2 of clubs help? Pocket 2's. Because he didn't open with jack-2. He could have 8's or j's, that hit a set on turn, but there is a strong indication that he has a drawing hand with that bet on the turn. The 2 of spades comes on the river meaning the diamond flush missed and the potential backdoor clubs missed. But clubs and straight draws were unlikely unless he has 9-10 suited in which case he might of opened depending on the player. I suppose A-KQJ might be betting(especially j) on the flop. But the open, the cards on the flop, and the 250k bet feels like someone on a draw who wants to take the pot down. The 750k bet after a 2 didn't make any sense. What story is he trying to tell. Then, a second two that misses all the draws comes, and he jams. Sure, a better kicker with the jack like a-j, or k-j, or q-j could be winning, but the betting said otherwise. The fact is, I would feel like I am winning that hand 75% of the time. It is a justifiable call.
